The brand new Warhammer 40,000 app lands today, and you can download it for free, right now. This powerful tool will aid you in creating your army lists, and will also make it easier to look up the rules you need while playing.
This app is designed to work hand-in-hand with the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, providing an easy-to-use army planner called Battle Forge. This will provide datasheets that are updated as they change, and a quick rules reference section.
Battle Forge lets you create armies for three game sizes: Incursion, Strike Force, and Onslaught (1,000, 2,000, and 3,000 points respectively). Although it’s now easier than ever to put together an army, Battle Forge will automatically flag any mistakes you’ve made such as incorrect loadouts or choices. You’ll also be able to export your lists to share with your friends or submit to events prior to competing.
The app is also a valuable reference tool, allowing you to look up your datasheets while playing Warhammer 40,000. At launch, it will contain all of the Index datasheets and the Combat Patrol datasheets, and very shortly after we’ll be adding Imperial Armour units – which are clearly marked out so you don’t confuse them. When a Codex releases, you'll be able to input a unique code printed in the book to unlock its content on the app, and instantly be able to access new detachment rules at a touch.
Combine this with access to the Core Rules and a quick rule reference that covers key terms, army rules, Enhancements, and Stratagems and you’ve got almost everything you need to play Warhammer 40,000 right there in the palm of your hand. You’ll still need a mission – which can be found in the Core Rules, the Crusade rules, or the Chapter Approved Leviathan Deck.
The app is available for download on iOS and Android, and you can try it for free right now. It will remain free for an initial period so you can plan lists and try it out in your first games of the new edition. The Core Rules element and the Combat Patrol datasheets in the app will remain free, while other elements will eventually become paid features.
The old Warhammer 40,000 app isn’t going away just yet, but it has been marked as “old” on the App Store and Google Play to avoid confusion.. The ‘old’ app will remain active so you can keep accessing the content that you unlocked within it, or for those that still want to enjoy a last few games of the previous edition.
Try the app for free right now, and start putting your first army lists together!
