Warhammer 40,000 is a vast place, built on the mysteries of the Dark Age of Technology. In the far future, great scientific knowledge has been lost to the darkness of the past, and replaced with cult-like worship of machines and technology.
However, a handful of brilliant minds cut through this mysticism devoting themselves to the pursuit of true knowledge. Fabius Bile is one such genius. A true artist of the flesh, the Pater Mutatis has raised many gene-wrought horrors to do his bidding, but his greatest challenge lies ahead of him in Guy Haley’s new book Genefather.
Bile isn’t the only prodigious polymath in this tale – he has simply invited himself along to a congregation of the Imperium’s greatest minds on Pontus Avernes, arranged by the Archmagos Belisarius Cawl. These luminaries intend to put their grey matter together in an attempt to unlock the secrets of the Necron pylon network, staving off the inexorable corrosion of realspace by the immaterium.
Typically, Fabius Bile has his own agendas beyond the scope of this cerebral symposium, and so must face off against this assembled 41st Millennium Mensa meet up. In this meeting of minds, only the brainiest can emerge victorious – does the ancient crypto-scientist have the edge he needs to succeed?
This tale will emerge in hardback, and there’ll also be a luxurious Special Edition (thankfully not bound in human skin) signed by Guy Haley. This lavish tome comes with unique cover art, and features an additional short story, alongside gilt page edges and a black ribbon bookmark.
This isn’t the first time that Fabius Bile has graced the pages of the Black Library. Josh Reynolds’ Fabius Bile The Omnibus collects a stack of tales of the Clonelord and his never-ending pursuit for perfection. You can also top up with the audio drama Fabius Bile: Repairer of Ruin and delve into Bile’s past as an apothecary for the Emperor’s Children in Chirurgeon by Nick Kyme. Cawl, meanwhile, has appeared in his own novel, Belasarius Cawl: The Great Work, by Guy Haley.
Keep checking in on Warhammer Community in the coming months to find out when both versions of this novel are available for pre-order.
