A new age for humanity dawns in the Mortal Realms, as the Cities of Sigmar open their gates and unleash the Dawnbringer Crusades. We’re immersed in everything we can grab from Sigmar’s strongholds this week, but that’s not all that’s to come – here’s what else you can expect from Warhammer Community over the next seven days.
Cities of Sigmar Army Set
Your first chance to get your hands on the brand new Cities of Sigmar miniatures and battletome is nearly here, with a jam-packed Army Set coming to pre-order on Saturday. Two units of 10 Steelhelms and five Cavaliers muster around a Freeguild Marshal and his attendant Alchemite Warforger.
In addition to the miniatures, this set contains a special edition of the new battletome with an exclusive cover, a deck of warscroll cards for all 52 Cities of Sigmar units, and four transfer sheets covered in iconography for your city of choice.
It’s hands-down the best way to start a new Cities of Sigmar army, or update your existing one with heaps of new units.
Vanguard: Seraphon
If you prefer your warriors of Order with a few more scales and forked tongues, Vanguard: Seraphon has the models you need to enact the will of the Old Ones. A fearsome Saurus Oldblood commands a hard-hitting, durable force from the back of his Carnosaur, unleashing three hulking Kroxigors and 10 Saurus Warriors to bury the hordes of Chaos under a rain of clubs, claws, and teeth.
Loyalist Champion Consul
The greatest duelists in the Loyalist Legions were responsible for reaping a fierce toll against Traitor commanders, pairing their mastery of swordsmanship with finely forged greatblades. These Champion Consuls can cross blades with the mightiest Praetors and emerge victorious, making them an invaluable asset for armies whose commanders keep their eye on the bigger picture.
Warriors of the Freeguilds
Get immersed in the Cities of Sigmar spirit with a new Black Library omnibus collection of Sigmarite stories from across the realms. Nick Horth, Josh Reynolds, and Evan Dicken all contribute tales from short stories to a full-length novel, following members of the Freeguilds as they pit sword and shot against the myriad horrors of the Mortal Realms.
Board games
If you like your Warhammer in bite-size chunks, the wide range of Warhammer board games are the perfect way to get a quick fix, and this week five more find their way onto shelves.
Lair of the Beast pits a rogue’s gallery of unlikely heroes – previously only available in Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress – against a monstrous Ambull in gruelling combat, and is releasing this Saturday in the USA and Germany. Likewise, Space Marine: The Board Game released in the United States earlier this year, and now comes to retailers across Germany and Japan – if you want to fight back the Tyranid hordes with a unique Captain Titus miniature, this is the game for you.
Three classic Warhammer board games are also releasing in Chinese for the first time. Blitz Bowl: Ultimate Edition, Combat Arena: Clash of Champions, and Warhammer Quest: Lost Relics are all set to launch this Saturday in stockists across China, offering exciting gameplay in tight, fast-paced bursts.
Going to an event or convention this autumn? Mark yourself as a true devotee of Grandfather Nurgle with a snazzy Nurgling lanyard and pin badge from KOYO. You can even accessorise further with some additional coloured badges ranging from black, peach, dark green, purple and brown – perfect for letting your fellow Maggotkin know who they can trust in a crowd.
Warhammer+ joins the Dawnbringer party this week with Cities of Sigmar-themed episodes of
Battle Report and Citadel Colour Masterclass. The units from the upcoming Army Set strike out from their walls to tackle a diabolical host of Maggotkin, while our expert painting coaches teach you how to achieve some incredible true metallic silvers for your Dawners armour.Elsewhere at Warhammer Community.com, we’ve got a phenomenal series of interviews coming up where the writers and designers behind the new Cities of Sigmar sit down for a chat about the long road from conception to realisation. We’re also continuing our own coverage as we get close to the Army Set’s release, so check back each day to see what we’re digging into.
The Citadel Colour App is being updated on the 23rd of August. There are more Paint by Model guides than ever, with more than 2,700 available to view(up from 200 at launch!) covering miniatures from every single Warhammer game system.
Now that we have so many guides, we’re changing how the Paint by Model navigation functions, with categories to make it easier to sift through all the recipes. On top of that, recipes are now sorted by Model or Colour – there’s no more Classic vs Contrast dichotomy. You can download the app right here.
