Two of the biggest upcoming video game releases from the worlds of Warhammer are Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader – and there are incredible announcements for both today!
We start in the Mortal Realms…
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin
Realms of Ruin is a real-time strategy game and just announced are a raft of new features for the game in the gameplay overview trailer. Newly revealed features include a powerful map editor, which allows players to create their own battlegrounds with the same tools available to the developers. These maps can then be used in custom multiplayer games, or shared in the cross-platform workshop, where community votes will secure the best maps a place in Conquest Mode and multiplayer rotation.
Painting your own miniatures is a core pillar of Warhammer, and the army livery tool lets you recreate your favourite colour schemes using official Games Workshop paint colours. The Stormcast Eternals come with six colour schemes, while the other three factions get four each. You can apply your livery to the whole faction, or customise individual units – it’s essentially a powerful digital painting table.
When you’ve added the finishing touches to these colour schemes, you can use the scene editor to pose characters and create shareable snapshots of your own creations. This versatile editor lets you adjust individual frames of unit animation so you can make the perfect piece of digital art.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin launches on the 17th of November for PC via Steam and the Epic Games store, as well as the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. You can get up to three days of early access if you pre-order.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader
There isn’t long until you can assemble your crew and make a name for yourself in the 41st Millennium. Owlcat Games’ sprawling cRPG Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is released on the 7th of December – that’s less than three months away!
As you explore the Koronus Expanse you will accumulate a band of powerful allies, including the newly revealed Marazhai – a merciless Drukhari who feeds on the pain of others to replenish his tattered soul.
