Necromunda is an ancient, decaying place, a planet that bristled with giant hive cities long before it was brought into the Imperial fold during the Great Crusade. And while most of our focus is on the gang wars fought in the 41st Millennium – now shadowed by the opening of the Great Rift – this smog-choked world has been wracked by wars large and small for millennia.
This month’s Apocrypha Necromunda ventures far back into the distant past, for some larger-scale gang wars. Here’s Owen from the Necromunda Design Team with more:
In Hive of Blood, we journey back to the lawless age of the Gang Kings. This was a time when the rule of the God-Emperor over Necromunda was but centuries old, and many still remembered the Iron Lords – once-masters of that world, as well as the star-spanning empire of the Araneus Continuity, to which it had been the capital.
It was a time of great upheaval, carnage, lawlessness, and war, but also a time of legendary heroes and terrifying gang lords. Hive fought hive, each plundering the resources of their rivals to serve them up to distant masters or use them to throw off the yoke of the hated Imperium and its cruel and despotic agents from the stars.
In addition to a brand new scenario, War in the Wastes, in this month’s article you will find rules for playing mass battles during the Age of the Gang Kings, where scores of fighters, vehicles, and brutes face off against each other in savage inter-hive warfare!
