The stories of Warhammer 40,000 and the Horus Heresy are linked by their setting, the far-flung future of Humanity. In the grim dark yet-to-be, many tales are told of heroes, villains, gods, and mysterious beings beyond mortal ken.
You can draw all sorts of connections between various Black Library stories which share these worlds and characters, but few of those connections are as dense and interwoven as those underpinning Peter Fehervari’s Dark Coil series. The strands run deep, yet they are so subtle that you may not have even realised they were linked – but now the Dark Coil is twisting out of the realm of shadows and non-linear time in a brand new boxed set release.
The Dark Coil Collection is a beautifully presented special boxed set edition that collects the bulk of the Dark Coil series in one place. Inside its special slipcase are three hefty tomes, which Feverhari’s narrative twists and turns through.
First up is the anthology As Within, So Without, comprising nine stories – Nightfall, Fire and Ice, The Crown of Thorns, The Walker in Fire, The Greater Evil, The Thirteenth Psalm, Aria Arcana, Nightbleed and The Sins of My Brothers. These stories cover disparate factions such as the Night Lords, the T’au Empire, the Salamanders, Angels Penitent, and Adepta Sororitas, all somehow inextricably linked by key worlds and important characters.
Books two and three are Peter Fehervari’s novels, The Reverie and Requiem Infernal, which follow the Space Marines of the Angels Resplendent and the Adepta Sorortas of the Last Candle. Both have stood guard over their respective domains for centuries but now face insidious forces threatening them from a darkness that has taken root in their homes.
All three books are bound in screen printed cloth covers featuring a purple spiral motif and are completed with a black ribbon bookmark. This collection also includes a separate printing of the standard artwork for each book, and As Within, So Without also features a sheet with the number of the special edition and the author’s signature.
Exactly how these stories are connected is for you to discover, and this box set, limited to just 1,000 copies, collects them all into one convenient place, magnifying the shadowy power of the Dark Coil, and illuminating the threads that bind them together.
This collection will be available to pre-order soon. Keep checking back on Warhammer Community to find out more about all the latest Black Library releases.
