How To Model Heavier Weapons Onto Your MKIII Space Marines

This weekend marks the next stage of the galaxy-spanning Horus Heresy, as the Legiones Astartes MKIII Tactical Squad comes to pre-order, a 20-strong unit of warriors clad in the iconic ‘Iron’ pattern power armour.

These miniatures are cross-compatible with the Special Weapons and Heavy Weapons upgrade sets released for the MKVI tactical squads, as Les from the Warhammer Studio has demonstrated on his Dark Angels.

Each of the guns has been designed to be non specific to any particular Horus Heresy armour-mark.

“But WarCom,” we hear you cry. “MKIII armour has vambraces on the forearms. They look totally different to MKVI armour!”

Never fear! The sprues for the MKIII Space Marines contain five sets of armoured vambraces on each frame, which are designed to be fixed onto the arms in the two heavy weapon upgrade kits.*

You get 30 of these grim and purposeful Space Marines in the Legiones Astartes Battle Group which is available to pre-order on Saturday, which is enough for a full-strength tactical squad as well as two Legion Support Squads.

This hefty box also contains a Special Weapons Upgrade Set, a Land Raider Proteus, and a Deredeo Dreadnought to provide blistering heavy support to your Legion.

* Please note that while both weapon sets are compatible with the MKIII and MKVI kits, they have not been designed to fit easily onto the older plastic Horus Heresy Space Marines.
