Last year’s release of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy was christened by a vast range of new miniatures, including Space Marines in classic MkVI armour and the legendary Contemptor Dreadnought. Since then, waves of new warriors have joined the Age of Darkness, and now two highly requested units are joining the battle – MkIII-armoured Space Marines and the Deredeo Dreadnought.
There’s nothing better than seeing brand new models resplendent in the colours of their Legions, so we snuck into the Horus Heresy team bunker to snap some pictures of their beautifully painted forces.
The Loyalists had a good showing – Dom and Rob bared fangs for the Space Wolves, Chris stood firm with his Imperial Fists, James deployed two fire support units of Iron Hands, and Dan showed off some beautiful crimson Blood Angels. Les and Ben hefted heavy weapons for the Dark Angels in support of their comrades, while Stu’s White Scars struck out at speed and Jason turned up the heat with his Salamanders.
Not to be outdone, the Traitors marshalled some reinforcements. Cal took the lead with his striking Emperor’s Children, backed up by Jesse and Euan’s Iron Warriors, Jim’s Word Bearers, and a chainsword-toting band of Sons of Horus painted by Sunny. Connor’s Luna Wolves even got in on the action, but they’d probably object to being lumped in with their traitorous kin.
Towering over them, a host of Deredeo Dreadnoughts put in time for both the Loyalist and Traitor forces.
The Dark Angels, Imperial Fists, Raven Guard, Ultramarines, and Space Wolves all got a piece, courtesy of Ben W and Les, Ben and Chris, Jason, Mark and Paul, and Rob respectively.
Meanwhile, Traitor Dreadnoughts from the Night Lords, Death Guard, Luna Wolves, Emperor’s Children, Iron Warriors, Word Bearers, World Eaters, and Sons of Horus sallied forth. For those, we have Rich, Adam, Connor, Dom, Euan, James, Owen, and Sunjeev to thank.
You can get your hands on your own MkIII Tactical Squads and Deredeo Dreadnoughts soon, as both units and the Legiones Astartes Battle Group go up for pre-order this weekend.
