When the Stormcast Eternals first struck out across the Mortal Realms, Liberators were the tip of Sigmar’s thunderbolt. Wielding hammers and heavy shields, they pounded the forces of Chaos into dust with relentless attacks and immovable defence, and built an unshakeable foundation for many powerful Stormhosts.
This dependability is what makes them an important unit for Stormcast Eternals commanders in the upcoming Warhammer Age of Sigmar RTS game, Realms of Ruin, and to make sure they’re fully up to date with the newcomers fighting alongside them you’ll be able to equip yours with some shiny new suits of Thunderstrike armour. The Warhammer Design Studio provided the developers at Frontier with the designs for the new Liberators, which they’ve faithfully recreated for the video game.
For the uninitiated, Thunderstrike armour was crafted by the duardin god Grungni to help the souls of slain Stormcast Eternals smash through the cursed skies created by Be’lakor. It boasts a slimmer look compared with the first generation of sigmarite plate, even when bulked out on the shoulders of Annihilators
These Liberators come with new takes on the hammer and shield too, combining elements of Grungni’s handiwork – like the Smith God’s own visage – with their original Sigmar style. You’ll also be able to swap between the new and classic looks for your Liberators in both the Conquest and Multiplayer game modes from day one, thanks to a convenient loadout menu.
