Few things go together as well as Da Red Gobbo and Christmas. This merrymaking miscreant has returned after a year of rest, relaxation, and revolushunary planning to hand out delightful gifts and a few lumps of metaphorical coal to those who have the fortune to be on his naughty and nice lists.*
With Da Red Gobbo’s Surprise available to pre-order tomorrow, Emma from the Warhammer Painting Team has been hard at work preparing a video to help get your very own crimson cad painted in just 10 colours, no matter your skill level
We caught up with Emma to ask her all about her brush with Gretchin celebrity and how to approach painting such a banger of a model.
Emma: With such a great model, we wanted to make sure that everyone would have fun painting all the little details with excitement and ease. When you look at the scenic base alone, you can spend so much time adding little details to the presents – like candy cane twists on explosive and dangerous items.
Contrast paints work wonders on this model! As we started off with an undercoat of White Scar, it gave us a really bright and clean canvas to get those colours on, and made that white snow and fluff super easy to paint. Having Da Red Gobbo off his chimney also made it easier to paint, so we could paint those little black boots without getting it on the snowy top.
But by far my favourite part is all those little Citadel Colour paint pots and the tiniest paintbrush I’ve ever seen!
Thanks for that, Emma. Anyone reading this can get these 10 paints for the price of nine when they buy from their local Warhammer store via the Pick ‘n’ Mix paint deal. Ask your local manager for more information.
Don’t forget to pre-order Da Red Gobbo’s Surprise tomorrow so you can get him delivered and painted in time for Christmas. Plus, you can win some excellent Warhammer prizes by helping him in his hunt for the scoundrel who has nabbed all the presents that he had been planning on stealing. Once you’ve signed up, don’t forget to check your emails to complete your entry!
