Recover Troves of Powerful Archeotech With Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus

While the Necrons are busy wiping the patina of long millennia off their systems and refurbishing their dusty tomb world summer homes, the Adeptus Mechanicus have packed their bags, booked passage on an Ark Mechanicus, and set out to pick up some serious souvenirs. It’s every Tech-Priest’s dream to recover samples of lost archeotech – advanced machine-relics from a more enlightened age.

Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus includes a how-to guide for uncovering, assembling, and deploying rare archeotech in your Crusade campaigns. Finding such hifalutin gubbins is simple enough – each time you win a Crusade engagement, roll a D6. On a 5+, your hard-working Technoarcheologists uncover an Archeotech Part.

You can either choose a Power Source, or roll a second die in the hopes of finding a more specific component – a Weapon Part, a Force Field Part, or a Techno-arcana Part. When you have at least one Power Source and another type of part, you can combine the two to construct a random Archeotech Treasure.

. Test out a Force Field Part, and you could score a

– a rare defensive projector of unspeakable provenance that provides a once-per-battle, phase-long invulnerable save of 2+.

Don’t like the results of your tinkering? You can expend an extra Power Source to roll again.

There are 18 potential Archeotech Treasures to reconstruct, but these aren’t the only remnants of Humanity’s glorious past on offer. You can also exhume complete examples of Legendary Archeotech. This is an involved process of collecting Location Data from Crusade battles, as you perform scans and gather clues – the perfect task for an Explorator Maniple

At the end of your painstaking search, that piece of Legendary Archeotech becomes an objective marker placed by your opponent in their deployment zone. Claim it at the end of the battle, and the prize is yours. The journey is worth it for such arcane technology as The Doom of Thorantus, which utterly cripples rival machine spirits. A single burst of data causes the mightiest VEHICLE to convulse and malfunction as its weapons falter and basic motor functions grind and spark.

Time spent hunting for precious archeotech provides Tech-Priests and machine spirits alike with plenty of opportunities to earn Battle Traits. A veteran Machine Savant can repair even the most broken war-engines, and long hours spent scouring records for hints of buried technology can hone whatever mechanical olfactory sensors a Tech-Priest has in place of a nose, making them a Holy Acquistor – an expert at snooping out lost archeotech.

On top of this, Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus contains unique Agendas, Requisition options, even more Crusade Relics, a Machine Cultist name generator, and three Crusade Badges for you to earn as you turn over every last rock in the galaxy to search for precious technology.

No need to hunt high and low for the Codex, though – it’s available to pre-order this weekend.
