The Great Rift has split the galaxy in two. The hordes of Chaos spill forth from the unguarded Eye of Terror. Almost half of the Imperium is cut off from the Astronomican’s light. Faced with these challenges, the reborn Roboute Guilliman launched the immense Indomitus Crusade to reclaim countless threatened worlds and cast back the forces that threaten to extinguish the Imperium for good.
The Dawn of Fire series has told the tale of these travails (and plenty more besides) across seven books so far, and the eighth – and penultimate – entry is set to arrive later this year. Hot on the heels of Sea of Souls, it’s Dawn of Fire: Hand of Abaddon by Nick Kyme.
As the Indomitus Crusade rages on, Inquisitor Rostov discovers vital intelligence that could reveal the plan of the notorious Hand of Abaddon, and hastily gathers together those loyal to his cause. Defending the Anaxian Line, Ultramarines Lieutenant Ferren Areios uncovers a dread vision that has ties to the mission of an old ally. Meanwhile, Magda Kesh campaigns alongside the 84th Mordian. Though she refutes her fate as something more than a mere soldier, is she truly touched by the Emperor?Despite a fractious alliance, the Hand’s scheme is reaching culmination. Amidst the infighting, Tharador Yheng yearns to be free of her master Tenebrus’ shadow and claim her destiny. But another acolyte has embarked on his own path, the Red Corsair Graeyl Herek. Both vie for the favour of the Dark Gods, and the means to harness an ancient evil that could reshape the war between the Imperium and Chaos.
Hand of Abaddon will be released later this year in multiple formats, including a luxurious special edition with a faux-leather cover and gold foil details on the front and back covers, as well as gilt page edges, a ribbon bookmark, and a coloured plate on the front.
It also contains an author’s introduction, Nick’s short story Defragmentation, and an appendix containing detailed notes on the Indomitus Crusade.
