Welcome back to The Road Goes Ever On and On – the monthly blog covering all things Middle-earth. This month, we’ll be diving into the details of last month’s teaser, revealing exactly what that was all about, and just maybe there’ll be another teaser at the end of this article…
At the end of last month’s article, we saw a glimpse of an upcoming miniature for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game.
We see a war spear tipped with a pennant depicting the emblem of Arnor – but who does this particular weapon belong to? Well, last month we showed off the Knights of Arnor, and so this month it felt fitting to introduce the character who leads them into battle – Argadir, Captain of Arnor.
A veteran of many battles against the growing threat of Angmar, Argadir has perhaps become King Arvedui’s most trusted captain. Though he has been a warrior for many decades, the years have been kind to Argadir and he has retained much of the skill of his youth. His wealth of experience makes Argadir a master tactician and he has proven to be the most skilled rider within the armies of Arnor.
Clad in heavy armour and carrying a shield for a lofty Defence of 7, as well as a war spear and sword, Argadir is well-equipped for war – and with a Fight Value of 5 and 2 Attacks he is easily capable of holding his own in combat.
Having spent years riding into battle to defend Arnor from the dark influences of Angmar, Argadir has gained an expert knowledge of martial tactics and how to read the ebb and flow of any battle he is in and therefore has the Master of Battle (5+) special rule. He is also an Expert Rider and often leads the Knights of Arnor from the front as they charge headlong towards their foes.
Both Argadir and the Knights of Arnor will be available later in the year, but they aren’t the only things on the horizon for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game. Take a look at this month’s teaser below…
Now this one seems very interesting! What – or who – could this be? Well, you’ll just have to check back in next month’s The Road Goes Ever On and On… to find out!
