Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the legendary Ultramarine Titus’ adventures on Forge World Graia – and with the game only a few short months from release, it’s time to get into the meat of its expansive gameplay experience.
We could just tell you what’s in store for the eponymous Space Marine – but wouldn’t you rather see it for yourself?
Recently demoted, Lieutenant Titus is back with the Ultramarines over a century after the events of the first game – but exactly what he’s been doing in the meantime is a mystery. Unfortunately, catch-up time will need to wait as a devastating Tyranid invasion is consuming the jungle world of Kadaku and the vast metropolis of Avarax, and it’s up to the good Lieutenant (and two of his dependable battle brothers) to kick them out.
The entire Campaign story mode is playable with up to two friends in seamless drop-in/drop-out co-operative multiplayer, putting colossal swarms of Tyranids and insidious Chaos forces to the sword with your own real-life Battle Brothers.
The action doesn’t stop when the credits roll, as an intensely replayable Operations mode continues the fight parallel to the campaign story. Together with two friends, you can customise your own personal Space Marine with gloriously ornate cosmetics while progressing through six specialist classes – from the shield-bearing Bulwark to the agile Vanguard.
If you have a competitive streak as wide as a Space Marine’s shoulders, the six-on-six Eternal War mode is the place to be. Build your perfect loadout and pit your skills against the vile archenemy in competitive player-versus-player action across a wide range of game modes and maps.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is deep striking onto the scene on the 9th of September and is available for pre-order on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, and Epic Games Store
