Tap Into the Cosmos and Unleash Sorcerous Supremacy With the Slann Starmaster

The Seraphon have one function – to enact the Great Plan of the Old Ones. They spawned five generations of giant telepathic amphibians known as Slann, a dying breed of rotund oracles who orchestrate the ranks of Saurus Warriors, Skink cavalry, and apex predators with near-omniscient skill, all the while effortlessly flinging out spells that can level cities.

Slann Starmasters spend most of their days in the Star Chambers of their ziggurats, reading the ebb and flow of the cosmic tides, casting their minds along the shimmering pathways of causality, navigating a route that best pleases them. These august amphibians are a dwindling breed, and only the venerable Lord Kroak survives from the first generation.

When war demands their presence, the Slann Stamasters take to the battlefield in magical floating palanquins laden with ancient treasures. Crystal skulls that map out ley lines, rare star-gems that can create impenetrable barriers, and other trinkets can all be found stuffed in the nooks and crannies of their floating thrones.

Slann Starmasters are puissant wizards of Order who have retained many of the iconic abilities that make them so rightly feared but now get two new spells. The Slann can call upon the Celestial Equilibrium of the cosmos to boost the casting rolls of all friendly Wizards on the battlefield by 1, while the Shield of the Old Ones grants them a personal 4+ ward save against mortal wounds.

Seraphon army construction is now divided by the ethereal Azyr-charged Starborne and the more flesh-and-blood Coalesced, each with their own personalised Enhancements.

Slann in either army can access the Spell Lore Drain Magic, which boosts dispelling rolls for friendly units and interferes with enemy unbinding rolls. Starborne Slann can invoke sorceries like Tepok’s Beneficence, an 18” range spell that subtracts 1 from wound rolls for attacks that target these more fragile minions.*

Starborne Slann are also the ones you want if you’re a fan of heavenly ordnance and want access to the classic Comet’s Call ability.

The Slann who command vast temple-cities have adapted to their realm-based existence, focusing instead on more sublunary magic, sending violent fissures across the battlefield. When The Earth Trembles, any unit standing atop these rupturing ley lines suffers D3 mortal wounds on a roll of 4+.

These corpulent croakers can also dip into the Seraphon’s treasure vaults to access a wide range of command traits and artefacts constructed to the Old Ones’ exacting design that can combine to make them some of the most fearsome generals in the Mortal Realms.

You’ll be able to get hold of the Slann Starmaster as part of the Seraphon Army Set, which goes on pre-order this Saturday. Alongside the 21 miniatures, and a battletome with unique cover art, there is also a set of 52 cards covering every spell and enhancement on offer so you can steer the fate of your army with the iron-clad confidence of the Starmasters.

* With Skinks on translation duty, keeping them alive is prudent. Few others in the Mortal Realms can transcribe the Slann’s croaks.
