A new episode of Hammer and Bolter drops on Warhammer+ today. It’s called A New Life, and it’s an instant classic. Warhammer animations give us the chance to look at aspects of Warhammer we’ve never seen before – and here is a great example.
The episode is set on an Imperial mining world where they gather the precious resource of ice. That’s right, the relentless consumption of Imperial hive worlds and forge worlds means that less important planets have their resources plundered. So here, vast chunks of ice are mined and prepared for interplanetary export.
Our tale follows a small family of workers who are desperate to escape their planet’s impending destruction in the face of a Tyranid invasion. But with the hordes of the Great Devourer descending and escape all but impossible, there’s only one hope – a daredevil dash across a besieged city in the hope of finding space aboard an Arvus Lighter evacuation craft.
We see an Imperial planet in the throes of apocalypse, the blunt cruelty of the Imperial war machine, and the desperate lengths to which a family will go to escape certain doom. You really can’t miss this one.
