It’s Judgement Time as the Leagues of Votann Battle the Necrons on This Week’s Battle Report

Warhammer 40,000 fever has taken over the Battle Report team in a new episode dropping on Warhammer+ this week. Simon and Nick play out a clash between the ancient Necrons and the doughty Leagues of Votann. We caught up with them both to talk about the episode and why you need to tune in!

Warhammer Community: Time for another game of Warhammer 40,000 on Battle Report, chaps? You guys can’t get enough!

Nick: Nope! We love the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 and all the things it offers, so we’re playing as many games of it as we can. Every now and then, someone points a camera at us and we make an episode of Battle Report…

WarCom:This time, you’re playing a matched play game, but not Chapter Approved! What’s the difference?

Simon: Matched play simply means we’ve written army lists to ensure we both have 1,000 points or less, and have included the usual Enhancements you can take. We’re playing a game using the Only War mission from the Warhammer 40,000 Core Book, which is a really fun and simple way to play a game. Chapter Approved games use the Leviathan deck to design missions and secondary missions. For this game, we’re not using those… although they will definitely be back in future shows!

WarCom: Nick, you’re leading the ancient Necrons once again on the show. What is it that draws you to them?

Nick: I just love the idea of these deathless legions of android warriors trudging their way across the battlefield, armed with exotic weaponry that literally strips the flesh from their foes. They’re horror incarnate, which is cool… and I must admit I love the weapon names so, so much. What is there not to like about the moment when you get to say “Fire the Doomsday Blaster!”

WarCom: The Leagues of Votann are under your control once more, Simon. You’ve used them a few times before, haven’t you?

Simon: I have indeed. I led them on a Crusade over a series of games in the past on the show. They’re tough, stubborn, and have respectable beards… so naturally, they appeal to me! The rules for the mighty Kin have also changed quite a lot between editions, so I was keen to put them through their little paces on the battlefield.

WarCom: This game sounds like it’s going to be epic!

Nick: It really was – we had such a blast! Playing 1,000 points was really exciting too, as it meant that every unit really mattered and every loss was strongly felt.

Simon: It also meant that our bigger models were perhaps even more dominant than they might otherwise be. My Hekaton Land Fortress was just absolutely incredible and I was terrified of the damage Nick’s Canoptek Doomstalker could put out.

WarCom: So, any hints on how this one went?

Simon: I should allocate you a Judgement Token just for asking! You’re going to have to tune in on Warhammer+ this week to find out.

Thanks guys! Once you’re done watching the Leagues of Votann and Necrons knock the stuffing out of each other, head over to Loremasters where the psychic might of the Space Marine Librarians falls under the microscope. With new psyker-eating monstrosities crawling from the spawning pools lately, you’ll definitely want to know what’s got them all worked up.
