Fans had the opportunity to vote on which two classic books to return to paperback earlier this year – one from Warhammer 40,000 and one from the World-that-Was. The votes are in, and two clear winners have been selected – let’s find out what you picked.Lord of the Night by Simon Spurrier ran away with 37% of the vote in the Warhammer 40,000 category. This classic tale shines a spotlight on the shadowy Night Lords, as Captain Zso Sahaal awakens after 10,000 years in stasis to a changed galaxy and a corrupted Legion. The Talonmaster sets out to claim a relic of his fallen Primarch, only to face the Ordo Hereticus, an idealistic telepath, and the traitorous ambitions of his comrades.
With 29% of the total vote, Dan Abnett’s Riders of the Dead takes the top spot for the World-that-Was. Two Empire soldiers who start off as the best of friends have their future irrevocably changed by the mutating power of the Chaos Wastes, and end up on a collision course to a cataclysmic showdown.
Both books will be available to order as part of a limited paperback run earlier next year, as part of the Black Library Celebration Black Library Preview 2023. This annual preview of Warhammer fiction will return on Saturday the 9th of December, with a live show full of announcements and interviews.
