The Magnificent Monsters of Order Painted by the Warhammer Hobby Community

From Saturday, you will be able to pre-order every unit from the Cities of Sigmar range, as well as two boxes featuring the biggest movers and shakers from Dawnbringers: Book III – The Long Hunt

We sent out Ionus Cryptborn and Belthanos, First Thorn of Kurnoth to a selection of intrepid painters alongside legendary commander Tahlia Vedra – and our expeditions returned with some wonderful results. Here’s a selection of our favourites.

Joshua kicks things off with a gorgeous take on Tahlia and her monstrous manticore. Alison and Darcy also painted some beautiful natural patterns on Infernadine’s feathers.

Tiffany follows up with a chilling take on Tahlia, the blues of the mount contrasting nicely with her fiery Aqshian regalia. JP has a richly multi-coloured version, while Scott has leaned into more natural tones.

Larger miniatures are also ripe for conversion. Kieran has planted the Warhammer+ subscriber miniature Karlina Von Carstein firmly in the saddle, and given her a dark colour scheme to create a character both regal and morbid.

Josh and Matt have both painted up a storm with Ionus Cryptborn and his draconith pal Cthorak. Both have cleaved pretty close to the original paint scheme, with Matt opting for some richer brass to offset the dark tones elsewhere.

Russ and Zach have provided their own spins on this returning hero, with Zach working in some blues on Cthorak’s hair and his rider’s cloak.

JP’s really nailed the iridescent shell on Belthanos’ Carnelian Greatspite, creating a magical vibe for the mount. Vincent opted for a vibrant green, making the bug appear positively humming with life magic, and Joshua rounds things out with a much darker take – kudos on finishing all three massive miniatures!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to paint these big creatures and provide pictures. They are all available to pre-order this weekend alongside the rest of the Cities of Sigmar range, and the third Dawnbringers book.
