Everyone loves a new Warhammer+ animation, so today is a big day – Blacktalon has arrived, and as the first Warhammer animated series set entirely in the Mortal Realms, it really lives up to the hype.
This action-packed series follows Neave Blacktalon and her elite unit – also named the Blacktalons – as they hammer out the God-King’s will across the realms. The Maggotkin of Nurgle are the first to feel the bite of her axes, but they won’t be the last.
The first episode grants unparalleled insight into the lives and deaths of a Stormcast Eternal. Neave’s bravery and ferocity have earned her many trips to the Chamber of Awakening for reforging, and with each successive death more and more of her memories have found themselves left behind.
Even as she seeks to unlock the mysteries of her past, Neave contends with a rogue’s gallery of terrifying foes from the forces of Chaos, Death, and Destruction. Her enemies are many and monstrous, so it’s lucky she’s a titan of skill and sigmarite crafted by the gods to kick backside in Order’s name – with fresh new thunderstrike armour to boot.
We’ve seen the more gregarious side of Sigmar’s champions in Double or Nothing, the episode of Hammer and Bolter starring the ever-bombastic Hamilcar Bear-eater, but Neave Blacktalon is an altogether more taciturn hero. Will she discover the secrets of her own past, or forge new memories in an ever-darker present? Only time will tell.
