Clean your brushes, organise your paint racks, and get your thinking caps on – Armies on Parade is returning for 2024! This global celebration of Warhammer is a grand undertaking, the culmination of nearly a year of hard work and painting – resulting in gorgeous armies on beautiful display boards. It’s a challenge, but well worth it.
There are new categories for 2024 – as always, it doesn’t matter if you’re an old pro or you’re new to the Warhammer hobby – this is an event everyone can participate in!
This year the competition is divided into four new categories: Individual, Team, Display Board, and Youngbloods.
Entrants to the Individual category can paint up and submit any army from any game system on a blank battle board or table. It’s all about the army, so no terrain is required.
Team entries are the same, but these are for groups who want to work together to put on a show-stopping entry. It could be two friends painting a combined force, a family working together, a whole team painting a unit each, or maybe a big community, each contributing a single miniature!
The Display Board category is for those who want to exercise their terrain-making and diorama muscles. You can also enter this category on top of entering the Individual or Team categories.
Youngbloods is a category exclusively for 13 to 15-year-olds (though you require the consent of a parent or guardian to enter). Teams of Youngbloods can also enter the Team category as long as they have someone over 16 as part of their group – so, for instance, your teacher can enter on behalf of a school Warhammer club.
There are all sorts of cool incentives for entering at your local store – and there will also be prizes both in store and at an online awards ceremony.
The exact dates are still to be confirmed, but Warhammer stores will run their finales during September, while the online Armies on Parade awards show will take place in October.
If you need any help getting started, check in with your local Warhammer store. They’ll have lots of advice on how to tackle a project like this.
Don’t forget that you can start sharing your progress with us over on X/Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #ArmiesonParade2024 right now. We can’t wait to see your progress and your finished entries.
