Adeptus Arbites Exaction Squads Are Bristling With Correctional Gadgets

Tracking high-security prisoners down through the haunted corridors of a space hulk might be outside the usual remit for the Adeptus Arbites, but it’s all in a day’s work for the ultimate lawmen of the 41st Millennium.

The latest expansion for Kill Team is available to pre-order this Saturday. Kill Team: Soulshackle brings with it the Exaction Squad, an armoured-up cadre of top cops whose vast arsenal of legal tools will help them survive on the Gallowdark – and maybe even collar a few Drukhari miscreants in the bargain.

What’s more, the kit is even more packed with variety than usual. These Adeptus Arbites can be built as an Exaction Squad, fugitive-hunting specialists who employ a wide array of sophisticated tools specifically suited to games of Kill Team – but their kit contains enough parts to build a whole squad of Vigilants toting combat shotguns or Subductors brandishing shields and mauls.*

None show this off better than the squad’s leader, the Proctor-exactant.

The Proctor-exactant spends plenty of time bellowing into his nuncio-aquila – no doubt reminding people exactly who the law is – and he even gets a choice of helmet crest to look impressive from the front and the side.

Should yours need a hand free for walloping duties, you can swap out his microphone for a repression baton – or clip the baton to his belt, and trade the shotgun in for a hefty dominator maul and assault shield – and allow the eagle-headed drone to float on its own base, where it can also be used as a game token.

Each model is loaded with details, even the basic rank-and-file officers – from the cuffs and batons on their belts and the vid-corders mounted on their cuirasses, down to the individual bolts on their armour and the intricate buckles holding their ornate shoulder pads in place.

As a non-military force – albeit more heavily armed than many actual soldiers in the 41st Millennium – the Adeptus Arbites carry gadgets rarely seen elsewhere. Webbers are here to gum up ne’er-do-wells attempting to escape Imperial justice, while Malocators and Revelatums use investigative equipment like bio-sample extractors and soulguilt scanners to track down priority targets for immediate arrest.

The Leashmaster brings with him the noble R-VR Cyber-mastiff. Unlike most other animal companions in Kill Team, this half-machine hound is well-trained enough to take certain mission actions – namely Gather Evidence, a special Tac Op for Exaction Squads.

He even comes with build options of his own – a pair of precious little carry-bags to ferry around globs of torn flesh and spent shell casings.

Finally, you can add a touch of true crime to their bases with a pair of chalk outlines found on their transfer sheet. These outlines are perfect for objective markers – maybe leaving the head separate from the body? You’ll also get loads of Adeptus Arbites insignia and precinct numerals to field up to nine individually numbered squads.

Kill Team: Soulshackle is coming to pre-orders this weekend, so practise your best shouts of “Freeze, xenos!” Check back later in the week for an exposée into the Hand of the Archon – the Drukhari recidivists facing off against the Arbites.

* These two squads can be used in games of Warhammer 40,000 – as usual, expect more info closer to their individual release.
