Fans of the Aeldari and Aeronautica should look sharp – two new aircraft are prepping for takeoff. Foes of the Aeldari will want to look even sharper… they’re both extremely deadly.
Hemlock Wraithfighters
Featuring a distinctive sleek silhouette, piloted by a spiritseer, and armed with eldritch weapons capable of forcing an enemy pilot to literally give up the ghost, Hemlock Wraithfighters are utterly terrifying at Short and Mid range.
Three dice may not seem like much, but they cause Damage on a roll of two or better, and two points of Damage on a three or better! Most weapons in this game don’t even scratch the paintwork until they start rolling fours or fives, so this sort of reliable damage is unmatched.
And with the peerless speed and agility (and yes, they also have the Jink special rule) you expect from an Asuryani fighter, you’ll be lining up shots all over the board, with a very real chance at taking out an enemy fighter in every round. They can even line up effective strafing runs at ground targets, taking out tough bunkers in one fusillade while other aircraft might have to circle around for second run.
Nightshade Interceptor
Piloted not by a seer, but an Aspect Warrior, Nightshade Interceptors will rattle any opponent that has to face them in a protracted dogfight. Known as Crimson Hunters, these pilots live up to their name, striking out with pinpoint-accurate lasers to carve their targets into burning chunks.
By combining the incredible technology of the Aeldari and the training and focus of an Aspect Warrior, Nightshades can swerve out of deadly crossfires. They have the speed to avoid enemy fighters, while keeping their own weapons effective at long range.
Nightshade Interceptors flash across the Area of Engagement, striking at high-priority targets, flying circles around their stunned foes. They’re perfect snipers to bolster your roster.
These two new specialised Fighters round out a solid Asuryani roster, which already boasts light fighters and bombers, and two larger bombers. This makes the Aeldari one of the fastest and most versatile factions, with a tool for every scenario.
This a great time to start an Asuryani collection for Aeronautica Imperialis. Why not pick up a box of Wrath of Angels to get the orb rolling? Sign up for the newsletter, and we’ll let you know when you can open up your hangar doors.
