At last, we have answers! The final episode of Interrogator (for season one at least!) has landed on WarhammerTV.com today, and with it come shocking revelations!
Now, we’re really keen to discuss the conclusion to the season, but the last thing we want to do is ruin the show for you – so get on over to WarhammerTV.com and watch the latest episode before you read any further! Spoilers most certainly lie ahead… and if you haven’t subscribed yet, there’s really never been a better time, with nine episodes to binge (oh, and those new subscriber models to choose from).
So, it turns out Bellona was quite the radical* eh? Maybe the galaxy will indeed be better off without her?In many ways the stars of the show this week were Heroth, Inquisitor Bellona, and the shadowy figure behind the desk… whom our agents inform us is one Inquisitor Markov. We discussed Heroth a couple of weeks back (and we may well return to his role in all this in the future), but what do we know about our two inquisitors?
Inquisitor Bellona was an agent on a mission – using the unfathomable power of the Holy Ordos to enact a plan which simultaneously spelled doom for trillions on Gheisthaven – and many other worlds – but potentially offered the salvation of all humanity by sealing up the Cicatrix Maledictum.
Where this plan came from, we don’t rightly know. Some heretical and forbidden research or daemonic pact? Perhaps the minds of xenos or even the arcane mysteries of some Adeptus Mechanicus Magos or Logis? Perhaps we never will. It’s possible the whole conspiracy died with Bellona when Heroth pulled the trigger…
We do know, at least in the words of the shadowy Inquisitor Markov, that Bellona was indeed a radical, dangerously pursuing her own agenda – a cause with devastating consequences.
Of our mysterious new Inquisitor, precious little is known – but Markov does give us a glimpse into the mindset and nature of Inquisitors in general. It’s been said many times before that Inquisitors care little for morality and nothing at all for the Imperium’s many laws and procedures (except when they are using them as a tool). Their power within the Imperium is absolute, upheld by the ancient tradition that their authority comes directly from the Emperor himself. And as we saw in this week’s episode, things can quickly turn deadly when two Inquisitors disagree on methods.
One of the things that makes inquisitors such a compelling part of Warhammer 40,000’s lore is how they can be so different – from bombastic, larger-than-life figures clad in ostentatious wargear and leading retinues of hundreds, if not thousands (Torquemada Coteaz, we’re looking at you), through to subtle figures who fulfil their duties in the shadows, using the hands of others. Ultimately they all have the same goal – protecting humanity. Right?
Maybe we’ll see more from Inquisitor Markov in the future.
For now though, shadowy agents of the Golden Throne aren’t the only things on offer through a Warhammer+ subscription. This week, more outstanding content lands on Warhammer TV with a Citadel Colour Masterclass showing you how to paint Leagues of Votann plasma blades, and a brand-new Battle Report bringing the Middle-earth™ Strategy Battle Game to Warhammer TV for the first time.
You can subscribe to Warhammer+ right now, and get access to all the shows, apps, and the Warhammer Vault, as well as the outstanding new subscriber-only miniatures.
* Radical - it’s a simple term, usually pejorative, used to describe an Inquisitor willing to operate outside of the accepted norms/rules of common decency… but then radicals don’t believe the rules apply to them. The guilty seldom do…
