Callis and Toll Make Their Animation Debut in a New Episode of Hammer and Bolter

The settings of Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar are so vast and packed with action and intrigue that it is simply impossible to tell every story taking place – even Tzeentch struggles to keep track of every thread.*

Still, it’s a noble goal to explore the rich tapestry of life in these epic arenas, and that’s exactly what the animated anthology series Hammer and Bolter has set out to do.

In Undercity, this wide-reaching series pulls its focus to the city of Hammerhal Aqsha in the Realm of Fire, where Witch Hunter Hanniver Toll and his reluctant associate Armand Callis are on the hunt for a missing person of some notoriety – a cousin of the city’s High Arbiter.

All signs point to shady goings on in the city’s labyrinthine sewers and forgotten undercity. To aid in their search, Toll hires master thief Lyssa Ravenya, who just so happens to be Callis’ ex-lover. As you might expect, this doesn’t go down well with the former Freeguild Captain, but all three will need to put aside grievances past and present to survive what awaits them.

Fans of Warhammer Age of Sigmar fiction will recognise Callis and Toll from their outings in Black Library tales. We were first introduced to the unlikely pair in City of Secrets, where they fought to save Excelsis from a Tzeentchian scheme, and the follow-up tales Callis & Toll: The Old Ways and Callis & Toll: The Silver Shard, all by Nick Horth.

You’ll need to watch Undercity to find out if the Cults of Tzeentch are once again meddling in the affairs of the Cities of Sigmar or if some other devious dwellers have dark designs on the Twin-Tailed city.

This week on Warhammer+ you’ll also be able to treat yourself to a Kill Team epsiode Battle Report featuring the Hearthkyn Salvagers and Fellhorn Ravagers, catch up with White Dwarf Issue 484, and check out all the lore from classic supplement Astra Militarum: Cadia.
