Warhammer Underworlds: Venture into the Wyrdhollow this Week on Warhammer+ – For Free!

This week on Warhammer+, the Battle Report team brings you a game of Warhammer Underworlds using the brand new Wyrdhollow box, and the best part is… it’s free! That’s right, even if you don’t subscribe to Warhammer+, you can catch this great game*. We caught up with Battle Report presenter – and official Warhammer Underworlds fanboy – Nick for more.

Warhammer Community: Tell us – what’s going on in this week’s Battle Report?

Nick: This episode sees us cracking open the new Wyrdhollow box and playing a game of Warhammer Underworlds using the new rules and warbands. I’m sure I speak for a lot of fellow Underworlds enthusiasts when I say we’ve been looking forward to this box! Gorgeous new models and great new rules.

WarCom: You had a special guest on this week, didn’t you?

Nick: Yes! My good friend Phil, one of the mighty loremasters at the Design Studio, is a regular opponent of mine. As his mind works in devious and tricksy ways, he opted to use Ephilim’s Pandaemonium. As I’ve been reforged multiple times and despise Chaos, I took Domitan’s Stormcoven.

WarCom: These both seem like quite magic-heavy warbands.

Nick: They really are. We’ve seen magical Stormcast Eternals before in Warhammer Underworlds, but Domitan’s Stormcoven are next-level – seriously powerful battle mages that score big glory points when they cast devastating spells that rend their foes asunder. They can even choose to Inspire and un-Inspire at will as they harness their magic.

Of course, Ephilim’s Pandaemonium take the sorcery up yet another notch.

WarCom: Those models drip with the pure weirdness of Chaos. Do they play that way too?

Nick: 100% yes. Especially when you face someone as good at the game as Phil! He was playing tricks all the way through the game, making me think he was about to try something and then he would do something totally different. Their Plot card is just so good – you cannot predict what they are going to do next, which is a classic move from the Great Deceiver.**

WarCom: Which format did you play for this game?

Nick: We went for Rivals, as it’s the quickest and easiest way to play. All you do is take the premade faction decks in the box, shuffle them up and get cracking. No deck-building is required – you just go straight into the fighting!

WarCom: Can you tell us how the game went?

Nick: A wise Stormcast Eternal never reveals all their secrets, but what I can say is that it was super close. The whole game came right down to the last few activations. There were big gambles, some of which paid off… while others didn’t.
