Love the worlds of Warhammer? Have a brilliant idea burning in the back of your mind? Ever wanted to write for Black Library? Well today's your lucky day, because the latest round of Black Library open submissions has begun!
Black Library Editors are looking for unique and thrilling stories set in the realms of Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
The theme this time is “Dawnbringers”.
The editors at Black Library are asking for stories about the Dawnbringer Crusades, which have seen the forces of Order push out into the dark and tumultuous Realms to establish footholds of civilization and push back against the forces of Death, Destruction, and Chaos.
If you have an idea but need some background reading to get a handle on what’s going on in the current narrative, check out Darius Hinks’ Dominion or Thunderstrike by Richard Strachan.
For more inspiration, why not check out one of the anthologies packed with the kind of stories Black Library is hungry for, like Gods and Mortals, Myths and Revenants, or Oaths and Conquests.
To enter, you’ll need to complete a form and submit a 100-word summary of your proposed short story, along with a 500-word writing sample, by midnight GMT on Tuesday the 9th of November. You can do all this right here, by clicking the button below. Please note that there’s a limit of one submission per person.
Rest assured that we’ve received your entry if you see a confirmation in the submission form. Black Library will later reply to everyone, but sadly they won’t be able to provide each entrant with individual feedback. Should your story catch their eyes and impress them, you’ll be asked to write more, and you could even see your story published.
Check out this article about Marc Collins, an applicant in 2018 who had his story submission – and many others – published by Black Library. His first novel, Grim Repast, was released this year.
