Four Battlehosts for the Middle-earth™ Strategy Battle Game are available to pre-order right now. Two for the forces of Good and two for the forces of Evil, and each one is a perfect entry point into the game. These boxes contain hefty forces headed by a powerful hero, combined with quickstart rules to get you playing out your favourite movie moments on the tabletop straight away.
Love for The Lord of The Rings™,The Hobbit™, and Middle-earth is currently at an all-time high and, in celebration, we lit the beacons to summon Community painters to share their best paint jobs of their favourite characters – and they delivered in spades.
@Dry_Gins
First up, Théoden™ by @dry_gins is a gorgeous rendition of the King of Rohan with some exquisite non-metallic metal* work and an exceptionally lifelike face. The face of the re-invigorated and martial Théoden that the people of Gondor truly needed.
@StryfeMinis
Next, @StryfeMinis brings a suitably creepy take to the Witch-king of Angmar, with some sumptuous lighting effects that make it look like he’s watching his armies march forth from the eerie halls of Angmar itself.
@HarrySherwin
@HarrySherwin’s take on Éomer is a crisp paint job for the Third Marshal of the Mark. The green shield is a particularly lovely detail which brings a punch of colour to this rough and ready rider.
@HobbyXav
Fans of Rohan are clearly out in force because we’ve got a wonderful Éowyn from @HobbyXav. Her expression of determination really sells her greatest moments from the movies, and the grime of the battlefield on the chainmail is a great touch.
@DrunkOnTeaUK
We’re not out of the Riddermark yet, as @DrunkOnTeaUK’s take on Éomer goes for the bare-headed option, showing off his luscious locks and that vicious war-snarl while kitted out in the wine-red of Rohan.
@WarhammerJay
@WarhammerJay has done a superb job with the Witch-king of Angmar mounted on his steed. Eschewing the Crown of Morgul for his regular hooded cowl lets the depth of the brushwork on the cloak really stand out.
Boromir prepares to stand fast against the vile Witch-king with sword, shield and horn all to hand. Wearing the raiments of Gondor, replete with the heraldry of the White Tree, @WarhammerJay has pulled off the contrast between black and white with an expert hand.
@InAHidingPlace
Who better to ally with Boromir against the powerful evil of the Witch-king than Aragorn, the true king of Gondor? A great paint job captures his determined gaze, and plenty of tight highlights convey the hard-wearing leather of a ranger.
@BloodKeep
Rounding us out is @Bloodkeep with two miniature dioramas that capture the feel of Middle-earth. Galadriel and Celeborn and the Mirror of Galadriel are pictured looking regal in an autumnal scene, while Samwise takes on the monstrous Shelob.
All of these heroes would be fantastic companions to the four Battlehosts, which are available to pre-order this weekend. The Lord of The Rings™: Battle of Osgiliath is also getting an advanced pre-order too – place your order this weekend, and you will get yours before Christmas.
