While you may have read about the exploits of Gardus Steel Soul, his new warscroll lets you write the next chapter of his saga. With both Gardus Steel Soul’s awesome model and Broken Realms: Be’lakor up for pre-order right now, we wanted to take a moment to shine a light on this legendary hero.
You may have felt a pang of familiarity when Gardus Steel Soul’s model was first revealed in the Lords of the Mortal Realms preview. That’s because it’s based on an absolutely stunning piece of cover art for the novel Hallowed Knights: Black Pyramid.
In fact, Gardus Steel Soul has popped up in several key stories of the Mortal Realms, making this warrior a firm fan favourite in the process. Not only does he now have an awesome model, but Gardus also plays a key role in the Broken Realms saga.
You’ll have to pick up a copy of the latest instalment to find out all about it, but suffice to say Gardus and his elite band of Stormcast Eternals (nicknamed the Steel Souls) do their best to make things difficult for Be’lakor. Time and again, these noble warriors throw themselves against overwhelming odds, never shrinking from their duty – it’s what they’re famous for, after all.
He may have a storied past, but it’s up to you to spin Gardus Steel Soul’s next yarn on your own battlefield. As a Lord-Celestant of the Stormcast Eternals, he’s armed with a sigmarite runeblade and warhammer, and his warscroll includes several abilities that link Gardus to his portrayal in the books.
Having led his Hallowed Knights out of the Garden of Nurgle without succumbing to corruption,* Gardus and his Steel Souls garnered a reputation for their intense faith. You can hear it when they cry “Only the faithful!”, and now you can see this unrelenting fervour represented in your games.
That awesome hero pose will look a bit silly if Gardus fails a charge roll, but thankfully he’s got some insurance against such an embarrassment.
If you’re already collecting a Hallowed Knights Stormcast Eternals army, make sure you pre-order Gardus Steel Soul’s model. In the kit, you can also find a helmeted head option, and since his weapons and armour are similar to those of any other Lord-Celestant, we expect to see this model in all sorts of Stormcast Eternals armies.
If you’re feeling inspired to create a new force around Gardus’ phenomenal model, add on a Start Collecting! Stormcast Eternals box to get the ball rolling. With one of the widest ranges of units in Warhammer Age of Sigmar, there are loads of Stormcast Eternals that will look great in that burnished silver colour scheme…
