The Second Wave of Warhammer Plushies From TOMY Are Horribly Adorable

With the upcoming release of the Gryph-hound plush from international toy company TOMY, the final member of the first confusingly cute quartet of Warhammer plush toys will set off into the wild – just in time for an announcement of five brand new ones.

First up is one of those most mysterious of figures seen scuttling around The Rock carrying winged helmets, mysterious scabbards, and all sorts of other relics: a Watcher in the Dark. Check out his little plus power-armoured boots sticking out of his robe, and that adorable little winged MkVII helmet.

Through extensive research that has resulted in the loss of countless Skitarii legions, the Magos Biologis of the Adeptus Mechanicus have proven that the Ripper is scientifically the cutest of all the Hive Mind’s creations (even though they are still ravenous monsters designed only to strip planets of their biomass). Still, with the edges rounded off, they’re quite cuddly.

Nurgle’s greatest champion is not the daemon prince Mortarion, nor some Great Unclean One of abominable fecundity and festering stenches. It is instead the Sassy Nurgling. This pint-sized poseur has immeasurable swagger, and he’s also stolen a helmet from one of the Death Guard. It suits him well, and adds extra gravitas to that hands-on-hip pose.

The next pair of plushies are slightly larger than the previous three. From the darkest depths of the Realm of Death comes the Purple Sun of Shyish, a notoriously predatory manifestation that rips away the souls of its prey as it turns their bodies into unmoving amethyst crystals. The only thing we feel ripped from our bodies in the presence of this plush toy are sighs of adoration.

The final plush toy is that most ubiquitous of Warhammer 40,000 weirdos, the Servo Skull. These floating craniums perform all sorts of menial tasks in the grim darkness of the far future, but they’re altogether colder and more uncompromising than this soft toy – which even has a pair of soft mechadendrites and some trailing pipes and wires as a lovely detail.

All five of these plush toys will be available to buy later this year. In the meantime, you can head to the Warhammer online store and buy your very own Spanna Grot, Gnasha-squig, or Gryph-hound plush to start your collection.
