It’s almost the end of an era, here at the Warhammer Studio. As we stand on the cusp of the revolutionary new edition of Warhammer 40,000, we salute the passing of the current edition with the Balance Dataslate equivalent of a 21-gun salute. Here’s Stu from the Warhammer Studio to explain more about the final few months of ninth edition.
The headline here is a single targeted change to the Dark Angels Deathwing armies that are currently running rampant on the tournament scene. Their Inner Circle ability has been trimmed, removing the ability to shrug off unmodified wound rolls of 1-3, which should make them a touch easier to remove.
And in a pre-emptive effort to ensure certain other factions don’t fill the gap left by the Dark Angels, there are changes for the Astra Militarum – specifically the Kasrkin and the Finial of the Nemrodesh 1st. On the other end of the scale, Tyranids are getting their Hyper-adaption and Synaptic Imperatives back in full, while CORE returns to T’au Broadside Battlesuits – just in time for a buff to Deathwatch Mission Tactics that’ll help them hunt down these foul xenos.
Beyond that, there are changes to Arks of Omen secondary objectives that’ll particularly impact the Dark Angels and Iron Hands, Thousand Sons, Genestealer Cults, and Deathwatch. The Balance Dataslate can be downloaded below.
Metawatch is going to be taking a brief pause for the next few weeks as the galaxy catches up with its new rules of engagement. But it’ll come hurtling back with all the chitinously pulsating inevitability of a ravenous hive fleet materialising at the galactic west of your filter bubble before you know it.
