Warhammer Age of Sigmar is a rich, evolving narrative stretching from the Realmgate Wars through the Soul Wars up to the Era of the Beast and the awakening of Ghur. Such epic tales are given life by the great characters who inhabit them, and Black Library is always introducing more recurring heroes and anti-heroes – now, two of the brightest new stars are getting their own miniatures to field on the tabletop.
While Fafnir Rann and Dominion Zephon made their names at the Siege of Terra, these two Warhammer heroes both hail from the Mortal Realms – let’s take a closer look at the literary lads in question.
Cado Ezechiar
First up is Cado Ezechiar, star of the short stories Tower of Empty Mirrors and Beasts: The Road of the Hollow King.* This windswept wanderer is anti-heroic, tragic, and vampiric to boot – bearing the immortal curse of the Soulblight Gravelords, the so-called Hollow King travels the Mortal Realms in search of revenge, haunted by those he’s lost. No, literally haunted.
Those thirsty for more of Ezechiar’s vengeful vampiric ventures needn’t worry – he’ll soon be getting his first full-length novel from creator John French, entitled The Hollow King.
The Hollow King isn’t the only one joining the battlefields of the Mortal Realms – the Kharadron Overlords are picking up a legendary sellsword – er, sell-axe? – of their own.
Drekki Flynt
Drekki Flynt is the protagonist of his own short stories, The Lost Karak and Krenkha Gorogna, and this stunning new model brings the smooth-talking, fast-talking, sweet-talking duardin to life. With his multi-barrelled aethermatic pistol, Karon, and (more importantly) an immaculately groomed beard, he’s ready to rob from the rich and give to the… well, some of it will make its way to the poor, we’re sure.
This travelling duardin pirate (he prefers “dashing rogue”) brings readers to cool locales across the Mortal Realms, usually filled with deadly enemies – sometimes, they even hate him for things that aren’t his fault! He’s also getting his first full-length novel from creator Guy Haley, in The Arkanaut’s Oath.
