New Sisters of Battle Books Are Coming Soon – Here's How to Catch Up

BLSisters Mar24 Header1734h

Waaaaay back in the mists of time, in the long-lost days of January 2020, we brought you a round-up of Adepta Sororitas stories from Black Library to celebrate the impending release of the Sisters of Battle model range. Now, more than a year on, and with new Adepta Sororitas fiction rapidly approaching, we thought we’d take a look at the tales of the Sisterhood that came out between then and now.

Ephrael Stern: The Heretic Saint

This novel by David Annandale resurrected Ephrael Stern, a character who’d last appeared many years before in the pages of Warhammer Monthly, and brought her into the Dark Imperium as a shining symbol of the Emperor’s light.

Reluctantly teaming up with a radical inquisitor who has pursued her halfway across the galaxy, Stern must let go of her past and embrace her role in this newly reshaped galaxy. This story also leads into her appearance in Psychic Awakening: Pariah, filling in some gaps for gamers who want to know more about her.

You can enjoy The Heretic Saint in paperback, ebook and MP3 audiobook editions.

Requiem Infernal

A devious and sinister tale from the pen of Peter Fehervari, Requiem Infernal focuses on an obscure and isolated sect of the Sisterhood who have spent centuries trying to unravel their founder’s tortured visions.

When a battered force of Astra Militarum seek sanctuary with them, guided by a sister who turned her back on the order long ago, the darkness at the heart of the order’s mission is brought screaming into the light. This story is more psychological thriller than action-adventure, and is perfect for those seeking a deeper look at faith in the Emperor.

Requiem Infernal is available to download now as an ebook.

Broken Saints

An audio drama by Alec Worley, Broken Saints continues a story begun in the short stories ‘Repentia’ and ‘Martyr’s End’. Sister Superior Adamanthea has been resolved of her sins and is one of the rare few Battle Sisters to return from Repentia to her order.

Hailed as a hero, she is worshipped by the masses. Little does she know that schemes are afoot to turn that worship to dark and devious purposes. As the plot unfolds, Adamanthea finds herself at the heart of a struggle that could damn a world. This audio drama gives you an in-depth look at how faith can be misplaced and misused for sinister reasons.

The Rose in Anger

Another ongoing saga of the Sisterhood is Danie Ware’s tales of Sister Superior Augusta, from the Order of the Bloody Rose. This latest instalment (following on from The Bloodied Rose and Wreck and Ruin) sees her battling on a forge world that is gripped by war.

BLSisters Mar24 RoseAnger27ch4As the Adepta Sororitas deploy faith, fury, and righteous fire in their efforts to return the world to the Emperor’s service, something stirs deep in the planet’s heart that could undo all their efforts, and cost them their lives and souls. This is a classic tale of action and mystery that showcases the martial prowess of the Sisterhood.

Hardback and ebook editions of The Rose in Anger are yours for the taking.

Danie Ware is also one of three authors with stories in the upcoming anthology The Book of Martyrs

BLSisters Mar24 BookofMartyrs49dl3

This collection of three tales looks at Battle Sisters from the Orders of Our Martyred Lady and the Bloody Rose, as well as a Hospitaller serving alongside the death-obsessed Order of the Valorous Heart. Each story will give you more insight into the Orders involved, as well as delivering rip-roaring action and thoughtful introspection on the nature of faith.

The other forthcoming Adepta Sororitas release is one we gave you a look at last week in our preview of limited editions. The Sisters of Battle Collection brings together all of James Swallow’s stories about Sister Miriya – the novels Faith & Fire and Hammer & Anvil, alongside short stories ‘Red & Black’, ‘Heart & Soul’, and ‘Iron & Bone’, which is making its debut in this boxed set.
