There are countless Warhammer video games, with something for everyone. Whether you want to play a game of Blood Bowl, conquer the Old World, or delve into the underhive for gang warfare, you can do so digitally. This Christmas, there are three games we think are must-plays for all Warhammer fans.
Warhammer 40,000: Battle Sister is the first virtual reality game set in the 41st Millennium, and casts you – as you might have guessed from the name – as a Battle Sister of the Adepta Sororitas. Load your bolter, rev your chainsword, and prepare to battle the forces of Chaos.
Coming this December, it’s playable on the new Oculus Quest 2 stand-alone VR headset, as well as the original Quest 1. It’s a perfect present for the wannabe holy warrior in your life.
If you’re looking for a more strategic take on battles in the 41st Millennium, Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus pits Tech-priests against Necrons on an awakening tomb world. Customise your servants of the Omnissiah with loads of weapons, upgrades, and skills, then lead the forces of the Adeptus Mechanicus to war in dozens of challenging missions.
You can download it now for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch. The console editions include the Heretek DLC, which adds the option for heretical upgrades and additional weapons – and for a gift, you can also pick it up as a boxed version.
Warhammer: Chaosbane – Slayer Edition is a hack and slash adventure set in the world-that-was. Choose from several characters – including the new Witch Hunter – and battle the servants of Chaos in expansive dungeons, collecting loot and levelling up your skills as you face ever-harder foes.
The Slayer Edition, which is the first hack and slash game available for the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, adds all the downloadable content that’s come out for Chaosbane, together with an expanded bestiary, new zones, and expanded hub areas. All this content (and the new character) are also available to download on the older consoles and PC. It’s available as a physical edition for the new consoles and digitally on PlayStation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox X|S, Xbox One, and Steam stores.
Hear us out here – clothing has a bad rap as a Christmas present, but we’re not talking socks or pants here – instead, there are amazing Christmas jumpers, faux leather jackets, and t-shirts with your choice of White Dwarf covers on them.
The Christmas jumpers come in three designs – Imperial, Chaos, and Necrons. The Imperial Tidings one comes in Ultramarines blue and gold, and is themed around Roboute Guilliman. If you’re looking for something lighter, keep an eye out in early December for a new range of t-shirts on the Warhammer Merchandise store, which you can customise with your favourite White Dwarf cover from over the years. There’ll be a huge variety of covers to choose from, ranging across more than 30 years of White Dwarf history! Maybe you’ll find your first issue there or one that you remember fondly for the way it sparked your imagination.
