The most immersive Warhammer event of the year is fast approaching, and this year the Grand Narrative is not only bigger and better than before – it’s going international.
The Grand Narrative is held annually, and gives fans of lore-driven adventure the chance to affect the official canon of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, letting you see the background as it develops in real time. Exciting, right?
Until now the event has only been held in the USA – last year 300 hobbyists descended on Atlanta on the same weekend as the World Championships of Warhammer. But we can now announce that this year the Grand Narrative will be happening simultaneously on two continents!
Tickets are already on sale for the American side of things, once again at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta from the 22nd to the 24th November. But you’ll also be able to battle for the fate of the galaxy at Warhammer World in the UK on the same weekend.
And these aren’t independent events, either. They will be inexorably linked, with the results of battles in the USA affecting the narrative in the UK, and vice versa.
Both sides of the Atlantic can expect all the signature hallmarks of this flagship event – thematic terrain, cosplay, an exciting and immersive setting, and a story-over-simply-winning approach to the game. Always wanted to break out that Legends datasheet at a major event? Here’s your chance!
At the sprawling Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, there’ll be different rooms with different themes – last year players found the air a little chillier around the ice-covered defences in one location, while the scent of promethium wafted through the forges of another.
And at Warhammer World, all areas will be involved in the event. Interaction with the staff in Bugman's Bar and the Warhammer World store may well be integral to the success of your missions.
There’ll be plenty more to reveal about the Grand Narrative as we get closer to October – but Warhammer Community’s infiltrators have managed to glean a hint of where the action will be taking place.
Last year, commanders found themselves aligned with one of three great Pacts as they warred over the secrets of a hidden world in the Palat System. This year, the Grand Narrative turns its attention to the Chalnath Expanse, where desperate wars of faith and fury rage in the hellscape of the Imperium Nihilus. In one corner of this benighted region of space, three new Lords of War prepare to lead their forces in pursuit of knowledge, survival, or the will of the Dark Gods.
