Wage war in three new ways with the latest Chapter Approved Mission Deck

It’s all going off in Warhammer 40,000, with a series of major announcements. First up, the Chapter Approved 2025-26: Mission Deck is coming to transform Matched Play.

The biggest change is the Mission Parameters step – you’ll now be able to choose between three ways to play: 1,000-point Incursion, 2,000-point Strike Force, and new Asymmetric War games. Each mission has its own set of cards you’ll use to set up your games.

Incursion games have fresh unit restrictions and their own deployments to further balance smaller games, while Asymmetric War presents a unique challenge with uneven deployment zones and differing primary objectives.

The Secret Missions in the current mission pack are out, replaced by new Challenger cards. This new inclusion provides players who are trailing by 6 Victory Points or more at the start of a Battle Round with interesting tools to close the gap.

Challenger cards have two elements: a powerful, free-to-use Stratagem and a unique Challenger Mission to undertake on top of your Primary and Secondary. You can only choose one – so choose carefully.

The Mission Deck comes with its own punch-out objective markers. However, there will also be snazzy, full-size objective markers made of flexible PET material released separately.

We’ll have further details on how the Chapter Approved 2025-26: Mission Deck works closer to release – including the tournament pack to be released at the same time explaining which parts are recommended for tournaments. In the meantime, check out the rest of today’s Warhammer reveals at the hub below.
