Ghazghkull Thraka’s Krumpiest Scraps Rated by the Warboss Himself

It’s Warhammer+ Wednesday! That means there’s a horde of new content for subscribers today – including a Citadel Colour Masterclass all about the arcane art of glazing, a Battle Report for Kill Team that uses the contents of the Octarius box so you can get a close look at how this tremendously tactical game of skirmish combat works. There are also new additions to the Warhammer Vault – four White Dwarf issues covering September to December 2019, and all the lore from the Blood Angels and Tyranid conflict that almost sundered Baal in Shield of Baal: Exterminatus.

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, this week Warhammer+ is introducing Deep Strike: Angels of Death.* This brand new round-table show sees Adam, Wade, and Louise – whom you may know as the hosts of our online previews, Loremasters, and Citadel Colour Masterclass respectively – engage in spoiler-laden discussion of the ins and outs of the first five episodes of Angels of Death. They’ll tackle key events, speculate on what’s coming, and interview the cast and the creatives. If you’re as invested in the trials of Ancaeus and Kazarion as we are, you absolutely won’t want to miss this.

On top of all that, the Loremasters are casting their eyes over one of Warhammer 40,000’s most notorious and celebrated characters – the brutal and kunnin’ Warlord Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka.

You’ll have to check out the show to discover all the nitty-gritty details, but we’re here to celebrate some of Ghaz’s most significant battles. We even got a few words from the big fella himself.

The Second War For Armageddon

The Second War for Armageddon saw Ghazghkull mount an outrageous attack against the Imperial forces on Armageddon. This battle saw Ghaz make an enemy for life in the form of the belligerent tactical genius Commissar Yarrick – a legendary rivalry that’s brought vividly to life in the brilliant Hammer and Bolter episode Old Bale Eye, which is available exclusively on Warhammer+.

The Third War for Armageddon

After being beaten back once, the Grand Warlord returned to Armageddon to settle his grudge against Yarrick and the Imperium. This time, however, the Prophet of Gork and Mork came with a fleet of Roks** in tow. Both sides fought to a brutal stalemate, at which point Ghazghkull got bored and set off to create the biggest Waaagh! ever.

Battle of Haunted Gulf

Shortly after he left Armageddon, Ghaz ended up cornered by High Marshal Helbrecht of the Black Templars and Commissar Yarrick. The bloody battle raged on with neither side able to get the upper hand. Surprising the Imperial forces as much as the Orks, an explosion of Weirdboy energy caused the Warboss and his flagship, Kill Wrecka, to disappear into the warp.

Battle for Octarius

After being missing for years, Ghazghkull eventually reappeared in the Octarius Sector, where the Orks were on the brink of being devoured by the near-endless Tyranid swarms of Hive Fleet Leviathan. Kill Wrecka popped back into realspace, and the Warlord unleashed the Roks yet again. Ghaz carved through the ravenous hordes with his Boyz and declared victory before rounding up tons of fresh Ork recruits and setting off into the unknown once more.

Battle of Krongar

In his journeys around the galaxy amassing what promises to be the greatest Waaagh! known to Ork-kind, Ghaz arrived at Krongar. Ragnar Blackmane, the Wolf Lord himself, had also been drawn there by mysterious visions. The two titanic warriors reportedly duelled for 10 days and nights before Ragnar decapitated Ghaz. But killing the notorious Warlord wasn't gonna be so easy…

What’s Next?

After Ghazghkull had his head transplanted onto an enormous new body, he continued on his mission from Gork and Mork. He’s amassed more and more Orks to his mysterious cause, but to what end?

Update FB WHWeekly

* Deep Strike: Angels of Death won't be available in Australia at launch, but rest assured that a drop pod is en route and the episode should reach the region soon.

* Roks are giant rocks filled with Boyz, Meks, and guns that Ghaz drops from orbit – a crude but incredibly effective twist on the Drop Pods of the Adeptus Astartes.

*** That’s the same Octarius as above. Plenty of Orks are thoroughly enjoying the scrap, especially now the Imperium is involved.
