If you missed it, we teased a clash between the Thousand Sons and the Grey Knights way back during Warhammer Fest, and we’ve shown off both an incredible updated Castellan Crowe and Xentep Korazon, an Infernal Master of the Thousand Sons.
Now we can reveal the full contents of the Hexfire battlebox. You’ll find a 40-page campaign book detailing the battle for control of Hexenfast, a gas giant that now plays host to an open warp fissure, infesting it with daemonic entities. You’ll find datasheets for all the models in the box, of course, but also Crusade rules including campaign-specific Battle Scars, Relics, and Battle Traits. These are a cool way to show the lasting effects of the battle for Hexenfast.
Of course, the box also contains two balanced armies of psychic behemoths – the Daemon-hunting Grey Knights, and the masters of Tzeentch’s magical legacy, the Thousand Sons.
The Grey Knights, led by the head of the Purifier order, Castellan Crowe, contains two five-man squads of Grey Knights in power armour, plus a mighty Nemesis Dreadknight. The Grey Knights can be assembled as Purifiers, of course, or as a Strike Squad, Interceptor Squad, or heavy-weapon-toting Purgation Squad. Since there are two squads, you can even mix and match – it’s an incredibly versatile kit. Likewise, the Nemesis Dreadknight suit can also be worn by a Grand Master if you choose.
The other half of the box consists of the Infernal Master, along with five Scarab Occult Terminators, plus ten Tzaangors and a Tzaangor Shaman. That’s a lot of firepower and sorcery-slinging action in a small, elite force.
The Thousand Sons are a psychic juggernaut unlike anything else in the galaxy, but the Grey Knights are the best-equipped counter to their sorcerous ways, with iron willpower and psychic tricks of their own.
The Purifiers are the most stalwart among the Grey Knights, demonstrating extraordinary resistance to the corruption of the Dark Gods. Castellan Crowe is said to be all but immune to corruption, evidenced by the fact he wields a sword with the soul of a malevolent Daemon trapped within it. Read all about it in David Annandale’s Warden of the Blade.
The clash between the two armies is shaping up to be an epic throwdown, and you won’t want to miss it. Hexfire will be arriving soon – stay tuned to find out just when you can pre-order it. Alongside the box, both the Grey Knights and Thousand Sons will be getting a new codex, each packed with powerful new abilities, Crusade rules, and more.
We’ll tell you all about the books a little later on. Make sure you sign up for our newsletter, and you’ll be among the first to know when Hexfire is up for grabs.
