The history of Warhammer 40,000 is awash with heroes bravely facing down their greatest nemeses – High Marshal Helbrecht and Imotekh the Stormlord, Commissar Yarrick and Ghazghkull Thraka, Commissar Cain and a sense of responsibility… the list goes on.
To celebrate these epic rivalries, Games-Workshop.com is bringing themed Old Foes army bundles to the webstore, each available for just one week. These are a new army project in their own right, and they bring you within striking distance of a free Sergeant Castus miniature this month.
As the Indomitus Crusade began and great Imperial fleets swept across the galaxy to reclaim lost worlds, warriors of the Ultramarines Chapter battled with the Szarekh Dynasty’s Necrons across the Pariah Nexus (as seen in Gav Thorpe’s Indomitus). As the event that kicked off the current edition of Warhammer 40,000, it’s the perfect frame for the first two Old Foes bundles.
Space Marines
With so little known about the Pariah Nexus, reconnaissance troops are in high demand – and none match the skill of the Vanguard Space Marines. Trained extensively in covert warfare and equipped with Mk X Phobos-pattern power armour, these specialists deploy deep behind enemy lines and cause an almighty ruckus when the time is right.
This bundle is lead by a powerful Primaris Librarian in Phobos Armour, who deploys alongside an Invictor Tactical Warsuit and the full Combat Patrol: Space Marines set – ten Infiltrators, three Suppressors, three Eliminators, a Primaris Lieutenant in Phobos Armour, and an Impulsor transport. Most of these units can be set up outside their deployment zone, so they’re excellent for securing early objectives and ambushing valuable enemy targets.
Necrons
Wreathed in eerie silence for millennia, the Pariah Nexus lurched awake as the Indomitus Crusade arrived, waking legions of skeletal warriors from their tombs. Their living metal bodies turn aside bolter rounds, blades, and the ravages of time alike, while crackling green energy leaps from their esoteric gauss weaponry and strips their unfortunate foes apart atom by atom.
A Necron Overlord headlines this bundle with his bodyguard of ten Immortals,* three Tomb Blades, and a Night Scythe** from Combat Patrol: Necrons, along with a squad of ten Necron Warriors and their Ghost Ark transport. Balanced forces with a heavy emphasis on firepower such as these are a hallmark of the Necrons’ implacable armies, and form a dependable core around which an even larger collection can be built.
Choose your side, relive the early years of the Indomitus Crusade, and add Sergeant Castus to your collection today with the new Old Foes bundles available until Tuesday the 12th of October only.
* Which can also be assembled as Deathmarks.
** Which can be optionally assembled as a Doom Scythe.
