The first Season of Warhammer 40,000 begins soon, with the Nachmund Gauntlet ablaze once more. The catalyst for this pandemonium comes in the form of War Zone Nachmund: Vigilus Alone – a book packed full of background information and rules for Warhammer 40,000 games set in the Nachmund sector.
Alongside War of Faith rules which see you attempting to win favour with your gods, new war zones, and an Army of Renown, the Adepta Sororitas are getting a high-power shot in the arm with a codex supplement for the Order of the Bloody Rose.
Followers of the martyred Saint Mina, the Order of the Bloody Rose is known for its anger and piety, even among the already fanatical Adepta Sororitas.
This is reflected in a suite of rules that capitalise on the Sororitas seeing red, getting stuck into combat, and cleaving a swathe of crimson carnage through their foes.
Paragon Warsuits are already scary, but wait until you’ve seen them fight with the power of the Order of the Bloody Rose. The enraged machine spirits within these warsuits match the fervour of their pilots, allowing them to butcher hordes of enemies with ease.
All those who fly the flag of the Bloody Rose maintain a level of simmering fury at all times, but they are at their most dangerous when critically injured, mimicking the fanaticism of Saint Mina. The Fuelled By Rage stratagem allows Sisters of Battle to return fire on death, giving them one last attempt to fell heretics before succumbing to their injuries – which is especially potent on the heavy-weapon-toting Retributors.
Bloody Rose Warlords are unsurprisingly even more impassioned than their subordinates. They hurl themselves at the enemy without hesitation, adding one to their wound rolls for melee attacks, with the ability to earn miracle dice for slaying heretical characters.*
Finally, the Relics on offer for Order of the Bloody Rose characters exemplify their desire to get into the thick of combat. The Armour of True Sacrifice not only bears the wear and tear of innumerable battles – it also marks out the wearer as one of the Emperor’s chosen.
These new rules will allow commanders who are able to walk the razor’s edge of sacrifice and slaughter to reap bloody benefits and bring a smile to the face of even the sternest Canoness.
This awesome book kicks off the first season of Warhammer 40,000, and there's loads more to come, including a Crusade Mission Pack for narrative play, a Grand Tournament Mission Pack for matched play, and a Chapter Approved points update.
The narrative of Vigilus Alone will carry on beyond the book with the Eldritch Omens box, which features Aeldari forces from Saim-Hann battling a Chaos Space Marine warband on the Exodite planet of Daethe.
Join us again tomorrow for an article that sheds more light on this brutal conflict, and keep an eye out later in the year as the skirmishes in War Zone Nachmund become the focus of an exciting new Kill Team expansion.

* In the eyes of the Order of the Bloody Rose, that’s pretty much everyone but other Imperial servants. The Astra Militarum only pass muster if they prove themselves worthy through great feats of self-sacrifice.
