Three tremendous end-of-season specials await on Warhammer TV this week

We’ve reached the end of our first season on the new-format Warhammer TV this week, and to celebrate there are three special shows to watch. Tuck into Black Library Book Club, quiz show Brainboyz, and Open Play – in which our hosts seek out new Warhammer experiences. We caught up with presenter Josh to find out what it’s all about.

Josh: When my fellow Warhammer TV presenters and I aren’t making dozens of gaming, painting, and lore videos, we're moonlighting as stoic defenders saving the Imperium’s many worlds from a ferocious Tyranid Invasion.

Open Play is a brand new show we’re all super excited to share, and it’s all about Warhammer-themed challenges beyond the confines of the studio. In our first episode we’ve partnered with Zero Latency to take on their VR game Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Defenders of Avarax.

We travelled to MeetSpace in Birmingham, suited up with rifle peripherals and headsets, and began the all-important Rites of Initiation. We were transformed, each crossing the Rubicon Primaris and emerging as Ultramarines, clad in ceramite and with courage and honour on our lips. Stepping out onto the doomed planet of Avarax, we were tasked with saving it from the Xenos threat!

The moment I put that headset on, I became an Ultramarine... finally the dream had come true! – Nick

We were in awe at the scale and magnificence of the hive world, wandering within the Imperium itself, and we recognised more than a few nods to our favourite scenery kits as we marched through echoing halls of Avarax and battled against the overwhelming Tyranid threat.

It took all of our teamwork to persevere as there were no Command Re-Rolls here. The five of us formed a combat squad and brought to bear the awesome power of the Space Marine armoury, making use of bolt rifles, plasma incinerators, and pyreblasters.

I got to slaughter Tyranids by the dozen, and if all felt so visceral and real - I was in my happy place! - Simon

If you want to find out how we measured up against an entire world’s worth of Tyranids, you’ll have to watch the episode! Tune in at the end of each Warhammer TV season for a new episode, and see how we take on various Warhammer challenges in the real world – we’ll see you next time.

Why not give Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine VR – Defenders of Avarax a go at your nearest venue?

Open Play isn’t all that’s on offer this week. The team have been tackling Krieg by Steve Lyons in the Black Library Book Club, offering their perspectives on this grim tale.

Test your Warhammer wits while watching along with Brainboyz – a quiz show hosted by Nick – full of questions that’ll tax your knowledge of Codexes and Battletomes. But of course, the end of one season means the start of another and we’ll have more details on what’s coming next week

You can watch everything as part of your Warhammer+ subscription, which also grants access to the massive back catalogue of shows, the expansive Warhammer Vault, and a choice of one of two unique miniatures.
