Grots of the Mortal Realms, rise up! It is time to overthrow all dem gitz wot live on da surface, in a frenzy of mushroom-fuelled action.* The Gloomspite Gitz are known for their erratic nature, but with Ghur in ascendancy these diminutive greenskins have got their act together in the worst possible way.
The Bad Moon’s light suffuses the grot tribes with lunatic power – and while its wanderings remain inscrutable to astrologers of the realms, Gloomspite players will be happy to hear that the new battletome makes it much simpler to track the Bad Moon’s passage over the battlefield.
Skragrott the Loonking – self-styled – will be especially pleased. He’s spent many long nights communing with this selenic screwball, and has learned to harness even more moony malevolence.
When this ornery oracle casts Fangz of da Bad Moon, he urges his grinning god to launch a shower of jagged loonstone from on high. With a casting value of just 3, the spell’s easy to cast but scales up to a potentially huge number of mortal wounds – perfect for finishing off tough units or pancaking bothersome heroes.
The proliferation of Squigbosses throughout the gloomy depths has also imposed (relative) discipline amongst the rambunctious Squig Hoppers. All your SQUIG units now have a reliable base Move characteristic – but they still have the chance to make a stupendously squiggy surge if you roll hot for that extra movement.
Through the choice application of various fungal treats – and a few friendly jabs with a squig-krook – Squigbosses can coax their bouncing buddies into performing some impressive tricks.
In your hero phase, you can pick from three special shrooms in the Mycophile’s Pouch to feed a nearby SQUIG unit. Each variety has its own effects – how about turbo-charging a pair of Mangler Squigs with some Crimson Deffcaps for an extra 3” Move, or sending a Squig Herd into a frenzy of extra attacks with a handful of Sproutin’ Moon mushrooms?
Grots aren’t the only beneficiaries of the Bad Moon. Troggoths have become much more resilient – not only do both Rockgut and river-dwelling breeds enjoy an improved Save characteristic, troggoth Regeneration is now automatic – no roll required. Not enough? It also triggers in every hero phase – that’s twice per round.
Still not enough? Troggbosses recover an eye-watering D6 wounds – and Glogg’s Megamob have it even better…
There’s so much more to reveal! Moonclan Stabbas become shockingly bold at snagging objectives when gathered in large numbers – though they’re still not exactly what we’d call courageous – while Arachnarok Spiders produce far more potent venom, and have developed a new monstrous rampage to ensnare pesky heroes.**
Oh, and the Gobbapalooza is back and better than ever, and Aleguzzlers have a terrifying charge, and- oh, you can even build a whole army of… What? We’re out of time? Skag it.
Want to know how deep the lawless lunacy runs? Pre-order Battletome: Gloomspite Gitz this weekend to find out – it’s stuffed with rules for your Gloomspite Gitz armies, whether you favour squigs, troggoths, spiders, grots, or even Snarlfang Riders.
* But not the Gitmobbers – a temporary truce has been formed between the grot tribes.
** Extremely helpful now that Galletian Champions are making a fuss all over Gallet.
