Fight in the Gladiatorial Arena or Haunt the Mortal Realms with Path to Glory Rules

The new Battletome: Nighthaunt and Battletome: Daughters of Khaine are available to pre-order from tomorrow. We’ve seen how Khaine’s Blood Rites are getting even bloodier and the Nighthaunt’s Wave of Terror is becoming even more terrifying – but what are these two factions hoping to gain from their victories on the battlefield? Let’s find out what’s in store for both armies on their Path to Glory.

PathToGlory May13 Terrain1

Daughters of Khaine

The followers of Morathi-Khaine are well known for honing their fighting skills in gladiatorial arenas ahead of their murderous rampages across the Mortal Realms – or hosting great gladiatorial games to celebrate their murderous rampages across the Mortal Realms. It’s a whole cycle, really. Now, you too can send a HERO into the arena to win glory and renown… if they survive!*

Single Gladitorial Combat

Your odds of winning the title belt – and avoiding an embarrassing new scar – are increased if it’s a High Gladiatrix or Slaughter Queen stepping into the arena. These experienced gladiators know exactly how to flay a whole band of captured pit fighters for a screaming audience – and the show only gets better if you’ve built a proper venue in your own territory. Remember the concession stands!

Once your Slaughter Queen’s proven herself in the fighting pits – and won a legion of adoring fans eager to grab the reigning champ’s merch – you can send her out on a quest to earn her very own Cauldron of Blood and drag a looming Avatar of Khaine into battle. Those statues are nasty now.

Cauldron Of Blood Quest

So, watch out if you’re a HERO fighting against the Daughters of Khaine in a Path to Glory campaign – you’re marked for death. At least it’ll make for a good show.

The Nighthaunt

PathToGlory May13 Terrain2

Nagash’s ethereal legions are always eager to spread terror across the Mortal Realms, imbuing the fleshy masses with a proper sense of respect (and fear) for the dreadfully departed. Now the Nighthaunt can live up to their name, with Path to Glory rules that allow them to properly haunt the Mortal Realms.* Haunters of the Realms lets you secretly choose a terrain feature and have a unit jump out to give your enemy a real fright.

Haunters of the Realms

The Mortal Realms are littered with abandoned outposts – don’t you hate it when you realise you’ve built your Thondian Strongpoint atop a forgotten burial ground? You can even complete quests to create haunted territories, resulting in eerie nightmarish parodies of the lands available to other factions – with a little work, you could make like Radukar the Wolf and found your own Cursed City.

Cursed City of Order

You don’t need to spend glory points to control these doomed dominions – but be careful! Your enemies will be looking to exorcise your accursed influence by claiming victory in special battleplans… and, as we all know, ghosts can’t get much out of treadmills. They don’t have any legs.

Exorcise

Even if an opponent can wrangle some do-gooding adventurers to lay your unquiet souls to rest, there’s no need to despair. Just send in a swarm of Bladegheist Revenants – they’re sure to create a whole new crop of tormented spirits, and pretty soon you’ll be able to re-haunt your lost territory.

This is just a taste of the fabulously thematic Path to Glory rules in the new battletomes, which include unique quests, battleplans, veteran abilities, territories, warscroll battalions, and more. They’re both available to pre-order from tomorrow – so get ready to claim the Mortal Realms for the Nighthaunt and Daughters of Khaine.
