The venerable Warhammer Age of Sigmar app has served loyally for an impressive six years, but the awesomeness of the new edition of the game requires something a little more powerful. As you may have seen in our epic Warhammer+ online preview, a fresh version is on the way – but this isn’t just an update, it’s a new app altogether.
What’s more, Warhammer+ subscribers get access to both the new Warhammer Age of Sigmar app and Warhammer 40,000: The App as part of their subscription. Add in a heap of other fantastic features, and the worlds of Warhammer are at your fingertips.
Why Is the Old Warhammer Age of Sigmar App Being Retired?
Technology changes apace – as do the rules of battle in Warhammer Age of Sigmar. While the old app has assisted generals across the Mortal Realms, this is the perfect time to overhaul the platform so that it’s better equipped to bolster your campaigns and deliver cool new features.
What’s Happening to the Old App?
First and foremost, the old app is not being updated for the new edition. Soon, it will no longer be possible to subscribe to it either.
Even though there won’t be any more updates, you can keep the old app on your device if you enjoy having a nostalgic look back at the older battletomes in your library.
When Can I Download the New Warhammer Age of Sigmar App?
The new and improved app will be available to download in a beta version later this year, sometime before the first Battletomes for the new edition. The beta will be free to use and includes the all-important army building tool. Eventually, the app will join the wider Warhammer+ offer, and access to paid features (including the army building tool) will be included as part of that subscription.
The only thing you need to get going with the new app is a My Warhammer account – if you don’t have one yet, be sure to register now. For more on the features coming to the reforged app, stay tuned to Warhammer Community and sign up for our newsletter so you never miss a thing.
