Cast your minds back to the grim and distant depths of three months ago, when we spent the month of December literally giving away new Detachments for every faction in Warhammer 40,000. The Warhammer Studio enjoyed all that so much that they’ve decided to release more – every three months. Here’s one of the team – Kenny – with more…

The Studio has appreciated all the excitement surrounding the Grotmas Detachments, and we all want to say ‘thank you’ to the community. Players, collectors, hobbyists and personalities have all been incredibly positive towards the new Detachments and we are excited to announce that we aren’t done by any means.
We will therefore be releasing new Detachments as part of each Quarterly Update to the game for the remainder of the edition, to supplement your Codex purchases. What does this mean for you? Each Quarterly Update we will be releasing a new detachment for several factions who already have a Codex. This time, we’ve looked at the Orks, T’au and Adeptus Custodes. Those who have purchased one of these Codexes and redeemed the code in the app will be granted access to the new Detachment in the app for reference and army construction.
The Orks have brought all the Dakka they could find in the More Dakka! Detachment. Having no concept of ammunition stockpiles, they have decided to hold down the trigger with the Detachment Rule, granting Ork Walker and Infantry units Sustained Hits 2 for shooting attacks. Negate the pesky benefits of cover used exclusively by cowards with the new stratagem Long, Uncontrolled Bursts…

LONG, UNCONTROLLED BURSTS - 1CP
More Dakka! – Battle Tactic Stratagem
When facing off against sneaky gitz who like to lurk in cover, most Orks believe the most effective strategy is to fire off so many bullets and munitions that something is bound to hit the target.
When: Start of your Shooting phase.
Target: One Orks Character model from your army.
Effect: Select one enemy unit within 18" of your Orks Character model. Until the end of the phase, weapons equipped by Orks models from your army have the [IGNORES COVER] ability while targeting that unit.
In a similar vein, the T’au have brought forward their Experimental Prototype Cadre. This new Detachment supplies Experimental Weaponry to the whole force, Improving the range of all ranged weapons by 6” for T’au Empire units. Meanwhile, the Threat Assessment Analyser can grant your units Sustained Hits 1 or Lethal Hits, or both if you don’t mind that the weapons become Hazardous…

THREAT ASSESSMENT ANALYSER - 1CP
Experimental Prototype Cadre – Wargear Stratagem
The Earth caste have been experimenting with implanting AI neurochip- technology into hand‑held scanners, enabling the swift calculation of precise firing solutions.
When: Your Shooting phase.
Target: One T’au Empire unit from your army that has not been selected to shoot this phase.
Effect: Select the [SUSTAINED HITS 1] or [LETHAL HITS] ability. Until the end of the phase, ranged weapons equipped by models in your unit have the selected ability. You can instead select the [SUSTAINED HITS 1], [LETHAL HITS] and [HAZARDOUS] abilities to apply to those weapons until the end of the phase.
The Lions have been unleashed for the Adeptus Custodes. The Lions of the Emperor focus on units of Custodes who fight alone, gaining +1 to hit and +1 to wound when no friendly units are within 6”. The Unleash the Lions Stratagem will even allow you to split a unit of Terminator-armoured Custodians into one-model units for the rest of the battle.

UNLEASH THE LIONS - 1CP
Lions of the Emperor – Strategic Ploy Stratagem
Heroic bands of Terminator‑armoured Custodians engage entire armies in unrelenting battle.
When: Your Command phase.
Target: One Allarus Custodians or Aquilon Custodians unit from your army that is on the battlefield.
Effect: That unit is split into separate units, each containing one model. These new units each have a Starting Strength of 1.
Thanks guys – some powerful new tools there. Remember, these Detachments are all tournament legal, and you can get them for free on Warhammer Community, or when you activate the corresponding Codex code on the Warhammer 40,000 App.
