Index: Chaos Daemons – Updated datasheets and a new detachment

Those who dwell in the Warp have broken into the material realm with a new updated Index for Warhammer 40,000. The Chaos Daemons have been updated across the board to more closely match the Datasheet rules found in Codex: Emperor’s Children, and in the forthcoming Death Guard, Thousand Sons and World Eaters Codexes.

This has resulted in a number of changes to stat lines and abilities to pretty much every unit in the Index. Here are some highlights:

  • Bloodthirsters, Skarbrand and Bloodcrushers all get a 3+ Armour Save

  • Daemonettes and Tranceweavers now have Fights First all the time

  • Great Unclean Ones now increase the Toughness of nearby Nurgle units

  • New abilities for Kairos Fateweaver

  • Be’lakor’s Datasheet has been overhauled

Be’lakor has also brought with him a new Detachment, the Shadow Legion. This allows players to create a force of Daemons and Heretic Astartes in thrall to the Dark Master. Its Detachment Rule grants a unique benefit according to which God each Daemon unit belongs to, or whether it is a mortal follower.

Index: Chaos Daemons has been expanded to support some of the core narratives of collecting such an army and it will be where the rules for playing all of your daemons together exist. Index: Chaos Daemons will join Index: Deathwatch as a living online document usable in any game of Warhammer 40,000 – including at tournaments. We plan to continue to make updates and point changes to both forces as required.

Note that a handful of Datasheets have been removed from the Index and moved to Legends as the models are no longer in production.
