The new Codex: Chaos Space Marines is available to pre-order from Saturday. We’ve dared to peek inside this heretical tome to share news of the new Traitor Legion rules and the improvements to flame weapons. Now, we’re looking at the Crusade rules that follow your Champion as they grow their warband.
To appease the Chaos Gods and avoid the fate of being turned into a Chaos Spawn, you’re going to have to be victorious in battle. Winning a battle earns you Chaos points, which you can spend on Personal Glory, Dark God Glory, or Warfleet Glory.
Earn enough points in a category, and you’ll be favoured by your dark masters and receive fabulous rewards. For example, earn favour in Dark God Glory and get free Requisitions and Chaos Boons (you also get a better parking space, but that has no in-game effect).
When you’re marked up, the Dark Gods can properly bless you with a Chaos Boon. Sure, it may make it difficult to put your Power Armour on, but a scorpion tail is pretty useful in a fight.
There are also Sacred Boons for the four Chaos Gods, but if you ever roll a duplicate Boon on any of the tables, it’s Spawndom for you! If you lose enough Chaos Points, you can also become Forsaken, and you get punished by the Chaos Gods. When this happens in the Dark God Glory category, guess what? Yep, that's right Spawndom!
This is just a taste of the new Crusade rules for the Chaos Space Marines. Each of the six Traitor Legions covered in the book and the Creations of Bile and Red Corsairs have their own bespoke Crusade rules that include an Agenda, Requisition, Crusade Relic, and Battle Traits, allowing you to really personalise your force as it grows.
Codex: Chaos Space Marines is available to pre-order from tomorrow. Get ready to start your own Crusade force and get on the Path to Glory (or to Spawndom) by grabbing a squad of Chaos Space Marines and a vicious Lord to lead them into battle.
