Saturday Pre-order – The Death Korps of Krieg prepare for all-out war

The Astra Militarum is the largest fighting force of the Imperium, its innumerable soldiers waging a never-ending war of attrition with artillery, tanks and the humble lasgun. The new Codex is available for pre-order this week, alongside the release of individual Death Korps of Krieg units and some accompanying Black Library books.

Codex: Astra Militarum

The brave men and women of the Astra Militarum are ready to give their lives in service of the Imperium, and with the 168-page Codex: Astra Militarum you’ll be able to help them fight to their last. This book contains exhaustive background lore on the faction, as well as rules for the tabletop, including five new Detachments with associated Enhancements and Stratagems, Combat Patrol rules, datasheets, and Crusade rules, all supported by gorgeous art and miniatures galleries.

Those of you who are most loyal (or are simply looking to avoid your Commisar’s ire) can opt to pre-order the collector’s edition of the Codex, which has alternate artwork, foil-effect text, and a ribbon page marker, and is available while stocks last.

Lord Marshal Dreir

The Death Korps of Krieg have their own cadre of iron-willed leaders, but few are as canny or cutthroat as Lord Marshal Dreir. Having fought on the front lines as a lowly trooper, Dreir continues to lead his armies from the front – much to the horror of his superiors. His ability to cheat death has earned him a reputation as being blessed by the Emperor, and emboldening his troopers further as they execute his finely tuned plans.*

Krieg Command Squad

As brave and reckless as the soldiers they command, the losses suffered by the officer classes of the Death Korps of Krieg have caused the Officio Prefectus to step in, sending a Lord Commissar to supervise battlefields. They are joined by a hand-picked contingent of veterans who fulfil medical and communication roles. This kit contains a Lord Commissar, five Veteran Guardsmen, one Servo-scribe, and a Death Korps of Krieg Transfer Sheet comprising 803 transfers.*

Death Riders

Death Riders are a product of the centuries-long civil war on Krieg, their genetically modified steeds have claws instead of hooves and are bred for extra strength and aggression. Wielding shock lances and power sabres, they scout ahead of the main force, breaking enemy lines with savage charges. This kit builds five Death Riders and comes with a Death Korps of Krieg Transfer Sheet comprising 803 transfers.*

Krieg Combat Engineers

The grinding war machine of Krieg is always joined by a complement of Combat Engineers, sappers who are deployed to destroy fortifications ahead of the main force. When they’ve finished their explosive work, they get to work with their combat shotguns to thin enemy enemy ranks. This kit builds five Combat Engineers and comes with a Death Korps of Krieg Transfer Sheet comprising 803 transfers.*

Death Korps of Krieg

The mainstay of Krieg formations, Death Korps are dedicated soldiers who will wordlessly march into the meat grinder of battle without hesitation. Through sheer weight of bodies and firepower they can overcome even the steepest odds, and have earned a fearsome reputation in the Astra Militarum. This plastic kit makes 10 multipart Death Korps of Krieg and comes with a Death Korps of Krieg Transfer Sheet comprising 803 transfers.* Please note that to acquire the Kill Team upgrade sprue and cards, you will have to purchase the Kill Team: Death Korps box instead.

Krieg Heavy Weapons Squad

Krieg Heavy Weapons Squads are deployed to support infantry, directing overlapping fields of fire to pin enemies and obliterate those foolhardy enough not to take cover. This plastic kit builds three heavy weapons with a choice of lascannon, Krieg heavy flamer and Krieg heavy stubber. It also comes with a fire coordinator and a Death Korps of Krieg Transfer Sheet comprising 803 transfers.*

Artillery Team

Punishing artillery barrages are a key aspect of the Death Korps strategy, softening up personnel and fortifications alike ahead of massed infantry and cavalry charges. Artillery Teams are crewed by ballistics experts who ensure their deadly weapons are brought to bear on the correct targets. This plastic kit builds a single artillery piece with a choice of heavy mortar, siege cannon, heavy quad launcher, or multiple rocket launcher, and comes with crew members, accessories and a Death Korps of Krieg Transfer Sheet comprising 803 transfers.*

Combat Patrol: Astra Militarum

This new force-in-a-box combines elite infantry with swift cavalry. A Cadian Command Squad takes the lead of a unit of 10 Kasrkin, who are supported by two units of five Attilan Rough Riders armed with lances. You also get two Astra Militarum Transfer Sheets, each comprising 597 transfers. This set can be used as the basis for a larger army, or as a self-contained force for games of Combat Patrol.

Astra Militarum Dice Set and Datasheet Cards

The vast armies of the Astra Militarum require a deft hand to command them – make it easier on yourself with a pack of quick-reference datacards which cover all the datasheets you can take, as well as your army rule and Combat Patrol rules. You can also pick up a pack of 16 Astra Militarum Dice, which have square corners and are cast in a swirl effect blue plastic with white pips, and with the faction icon on the six face.

Warhammer 40,000 Crusade: Nachmund Gauntlet

There’s no rest of the wicked, and few are as wicked as Haarken the Worldclaimer, who continues his crusade of vengeance by renewing his assault on the Imperium's defensive lines in the latest narrative supplement: Warhammer 40,000 Crusade: Nachmund Gauntlet. It contains expansive Crusade campaign rules which let you play out the war on Sangua Terra with 15 new Crusade Missions, rules for Surgical Deep Strikes, and a wealth of variety of rules and narrative content.

Nachmund Gauntlet will also receive a collector’s edition, which features gold foil text on a soft-touch cover, printed page edges, and a ribbon page marker.

When new Tyranid hive fleets begin to carve into the galactic plane, the Carchardons mobilise defences on the world of Piety V, but as they spend more time with the human defenders their inhuman perspective starts to shift. Robbie MacNiven’s classic novel Carcharadons: Outer Dark is available in a new Special Edition hardback which contains the short story Death Warrant, and is individually numbered and signed by the author, with a beautiful soft-touch embossed cover, grey ribbon page marker, and silver foil on the covers and page edges. Double Eagle

As Chaos forces sweep across its beleaguered surface of Enothis and thousands flee from the incoming destruction, it falls to the elite fighter pilots of the Phantine XX to turn the tide in a daring aerial battle – but the daemonically possessed Chaos ace Khrel Kas Obarkon stalks the skies. Full of thrills and spills, Double Eagle by Dan Abnett is available once more in hardback.

Interceptor City

The Imperium is locked into a gruelling war of attrition for the fate of Vesperus during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade – a dead hive on the planet Lysander nicknamed ‘Interceptor City’. Former ace fighter pilot Bree Jagdea is enlisted in the infamous Circus 66 squadron, whose contributions to the war effort are far more dangerous than her previous job of running supplies, tackling the lethal rat runs of Vesperus to secure critical objectives. The high-octane sequel to Double Eagle, Dan Abnett’s Interceptor City, is available in hardback, eBook, and audiobook formats.

Siege of Vraks

Mustering an army from the ranks of the Death Korps of Krieg, the Astra Militarum must undertake a desperate siege to save the planet of Vraks from the madness of an apostate preacher. The road ahead is bloody and long, and it will make or break the reputation of the Krieg in the Imperium. The legendary Siege of Vraks by Steve Lyons is available to pre-order in paperback this week.
