AoSBrokenRealms Website Oct28 Header3ycs

The Broken Realms books have been nothing short of epic. Each one features major developments for various factions, alongside big changes to the balance of power across the Mortal Realms – and the saga is not over yet. The events of the first three instalments of Broken Realms have altered so many things, it’s hard to say what might happen next.

If you haven’t been keeping up with the books, you’re missing out on some absolutely realm-shaking updates. While you owe it to yourself to pick up the books and check out the free short stories on the Broken Realms website, we’ve put together a recap to get you up to speed with just how tumultuous it’s been.

Spoiler Alert: We discuss the plots of the first three Broken Realms books below. Scroll on at your own risk…

Broken Realms: Morathi

The Broken Realms series starts with a bang as Morathi, the High Oracle of Khaine, pursues her long-held ambition to attain godhood. As the story progresses, the leader of the Daughters of Khaine plays allies and enemies against each other in a carefully choreographed dance of manipulation. In the process, she turns her back on her long-held alliance with Sigmar.

Her eventual success changes the power dynamics of the Mortal Realms. In achieving apotheosis, she weakens the restraints on a bound god. Slaanesh stirs, sending his followers into a frenzy of destruction and waking the Newborn

Broken Realms: Teclis

If Morathi's story sent ripples of change through the Mortal Realms, the follow-up is like a tsunami. Nagash’s forays into Hysh push Teclis too far, so the Archmage launches a devastating campaign into Shyish to teach the Great Necromancer a lesson.

If that wasn’t tumultuous enough, the Mortarchs also attempt to corrupt the realmgates in a bid to pull the Mortal Realms into the Shyish Nadir.

Ultimately, Nagash and Teclis are drawn into an epic throwdown – the result breaks the curse of the Necroquake and sees Nagash utterly broken and defeated. You almost feel bad for him.

Broken Realms: Be’lakor

The third instalment explores the shifting balance of power in the aftermath of the Soul Wars.

Right off the bat, the Stormcast Eternals and Seraphon invade the Eightpoints to thwart a Gaunt Summoner who’s attempting to open the realmgate to Azyr. The resulting destruction breaks several important realmgates. The carefully laid-out geomantic energy that underlies reality itself is disrupted and the connection between Stormcast Eternals and Azyr is partially severed.

Be'lakor takes advantage of the havoc and confusion to snatch a long-planned victory and regain his lost glory. After coercing Lady Olynder to join his cause, the Dark Master invades Chamon and lays siege to the mighty city of Vindicarum. The forces of Order drive him off at great cost, aided in part by a mysterious, white-bearded duardin…

Broken Realms: Kragnos

We can’t tell you much about the story quite yet, but you’ve already seen some of the absolutely incredible models that will accompany the next book. If you need a refresher, we’re happy to oblige.

All of these characters have a part to play in the final chapter of the Broken Realms saga, and given the intensity of the first three books, this one’s going to be huge.

You may have noticed that a lot of awesome Broken Realms-related things happen on Mondays. What’s that all about? There just so happens to be a Monday coming up pretty soon, and it’s the first day of Warhammer Fest – maybe it’s worth checking back to see if there’s more news…

Are we being too obtuse? You really should check back on Monday
