Direchasm has been a great season for Warhammer Underworlds so far. We’ve seen many factions making their debuts in the game, such as the Seraphon with the Starblood Stalkers and the savage orruks in the form of Hedkrakka’s Madmob. With the new Ossiarch Bonereapers warband, Kainan’s Reapers, available to pre-order from Saturday, it’s time to show off the cards that come with the awesome, sinister models.
Mir Kainan
Leader, wizard, tough fighter – Mir Kainan can do it all. With that Soulreaper Axe, he can easily cut his way through any enemy fighters who are foolish enough to get too close.
Binar Khenta
Khenta is with Kainan to keep track of the Bone Tithe, but he’s actually a pretty handy fighter in his own right too. Send in Kainan to soften up a big target such as Hrothgorn from Hrothgorn’s Mantrappers, then Khenta can sneak in and finish off the ogor.
The Morteks
In our chat with Warhammer Underworlds designer Dave Sanders, we discovered that the four Morteks who make up the rest of the warband are more dangerous than they appear at first sight. The Nadirite and Mortek Advance rules help them march up the battlefield in an impenetrable bone wall before cutting down your enemies with their soul-draining weapons.
Kainan’s Cards
With a good number of fighters and decent damage output (thanks in no small part to Kainan himself), the Reapers work really well as a flex warband. As with every other warband in the game, they perform even better when they are Inspired. Since the easiest way to Inspire is to kill three enemy fighters, why not reward yourself for doing just that with Nagash’s Will?
Now, we expect Kainan to be doing a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to taking out enemy fighters, so wouldn’t it be great if you could make his two dice attack that little bit more accurate? Well, as Morgok from Morgok’s Krushas will tell you when he’s Inspired, being able to re-roll an attack dice can be golden.
There are loads of other cards that will help Kainan’s Reapers achieve Nagash’s goals in Direchasm, along with universal cards that every warband will be dying to try out.
We’re sure that this look at the cards has filled you with plenty of deckbuilding ideas. Make sure you pre-order Kainan’s Reapers on Saturday, and join us over on the Warhammer Underworlds Facebook page to talk about the new tactics you’re planning.
